Are there there any actually good mobile games? - Boomer complaints incoming

I'm not looking for idle bullshit, I want something engaging.

Ok I guess tower defense is somewhat idle bullshit. I would kill for a Advanced Wars style turn based strategy or XCOM. Fuck, early 2010s even had competent real time strategy on iOS.

I've been playing ancient planet, it's an ok TD game. Fuck Bloons

There was this pretty fun game on android called Bullet boy, it's pretty much just the barrel stages from DKC, I think you can pay to get more tries, but I dont remember really needing them much tbh

Tomb Raider/Hitman GO, Edge, Mini Metro and Monument Valley were good. Recently phones are powerful enough to just run low-end indie games and old console games. KotOR, XCOM 2012, Civ all run fairly well on phones, better if you have an iPad.

Call O' Dueee mobile is fairly decent, sure there's tryhard faggots and whatnot but the whole game isn't that much of P2W shit besides some exploding numchucks shit that only high level niggers bought way back or other older items that i've yet to find a faggot using.
Dungeon Hunter 2 is good if old looking because the damn game is old, you need to find a site to get the thing because gameloft pulled it from the stores, the newer installations are pay to win online shit.

Constellation Eleven, it's made by a russian and it's good, it's fucking crazy as how it doesn't fill your screen with ads or any other bullshit, it sellls you premium currency package or skins shits but that's not important to become stronger AT ALL.

SimCity 4 deluxe, it's made for tablets though but there's always the superior PC version.
some people can play theotown if they enjoy gems shit and having to watch ads or fork money to buy it then it's their problem.

the rest is you can go with the mindset that it's pretty much trash that will either fill your screen with ads every 5 fucking minutes OR be some garbage gacha pay to win shit unless you get lucky and find a gem like i did when i noticed that constellation eleven is a modern mobile game and doesn't do the same shit all standard mobile games do.

oh and symphony of the night is utter crap for mobiles, it's clearly not meant for fingers as there are many control combinations that you cannot execute on mobile.

I play Uno on mobile all the time. There's ads that can be disabled if you buy the full game but nothing too terrible. Of course you have stupid fucking coins and gems you can buy with mom's credit card but the coins have a purpose. You use them to bet on games. I might be a little biased because me and my opposite gender gal pal would do two on two games and absolutely dominate. It's a lot of fun for a free to play phone game.

Moonshades is a free dungeon crawler game like Legends of Grimrock. Very fun combat.

Alto's Odyseey
Alto's Adventure both are free endless runner games, very good and chill.

Seedship free short game where you play as a seedship looking for a new home for humanity.

Tiny Rails free idle train business game.

Vampire's Fall: Origins RPG "free with ads" or paid turn based RPG. Pokes fun at it self and the setting from time to time. Pretty fun, you can also get it for the PC cheap also.

The Trail "free with ads" an idle exploration from Kongregate. Excellent art direction and music.

Star Traders Frontiers paid. All Trese Brothers games are top tier for me. You play as a newly minted space captain in a Dune-like universe (future-feudal leaders or corporate syndicate heads). Very expansive lore, character skill trees and also highly repayable. It does use dice rolls so expect some of the BS rolls favored against you. Art is kind of ugly. Also is available for PC.

Geneforge 1 Mutagen paid remake for a cult classic. Play as a wizard that creates pokemon esque creatures to fight with/for you. Very good story and writing, with good combat.

If you like Chrono Trigger/Cross and want to see the unofficial "continuation" with Mitsuda music and Kato's writing, try Another Eden.

Yes, a gacha. But you don't need to spend a dime on it, just mute the ads and get free game monies. It's a nice solo JRPG.

The Kingdom Rush series of tower defense games is pretty good. You just pay for the game like a normal person, you don't need to P2W after that.

I've been pretty deep into puzzle/escape room esque games.
The Room series and The House of Davinci series are both excellent. The former definitely has my preference. Played through all installments in a week.

Everythingyou can run in ScummVM in Android.
Gemini Rue.
War Robots.
Those are the best that go with a touch interface.
Also any turn based stuff (final fantasy etc) you can run through emulators.

Swords and Sworcery (reaaaaally good soundtrack on this, great game too).

Once upon a time, mobile gaming was like Flash 2.0. The App Store was full of small but engaging games with no microtransactions, small independent developers making whatever they felt like, with prices typically ranging between free and $3. If a game cost more than that, it better be damn good. You had tech demo-like games that showed off what touch screens and gyro could do like Touchgrind and Fruit Ninja, addicting Flash-style games like Cartoon Wars and Coin Dozer, and even major Flash publishers like Armor Games and Ninja Kiwi made enhanced ports of their classics. And as for the AAAs? Namco made plenty of smaller Pac-Man spin-offs along with ports of their arcade games. PopCap had a strong mobile presence before the EA buyout. Sega shoved a bunch of Genesis games on there for cheap because why not?

This is what mobile gaming used to be. And now it’s all but lost because most of what I just explained was made pre-Android and never updated for 64-bit, so the only devices that can still play these games are old iPhones running an extremely outdated iOS. The apps themselves are preserved just fine thanks to overwhelming amounts of piracy, but who knows how long it’ll be until people can comfortably play them again.

Space Invaders: Infinity Gene is pretty good, a little dlc purchase here and there. By the end of the game you’re pretty op and it just becomes zen.
It was also on xboner 360.

Albion online, however I only have played on PC. You never have to spend a penny if you gank people, which makes for extremely fun PvP (and risky) especially if you duo with a friend. It reminds me of eve online as there's actually a risk to the pvp.
