Are we heading for some kind of Holocaust/internment camp thing with Russians?

The speed with which the entire western world has turned on Russians in the past few weeks has given me whiplash. Not just the Russian government, mind you. The DNC has been blaming the Russian government for everything from unfortified elections to losing the TV remote. Fine. Governments do that. But now the west is assigning collective guilt. Every Russian who has ever existed (including dead ones) is responsible for everything Putin has ever done, and they're being punished accordingly. I don't know another word for this besides racism.

I don't think I've ever seen anything like this is my lifetime, at least in the west. The closest I can think of is maybe Muslims after 9/11, but I was pretty young then and it's hard for me to remember the exact mood. I remember there was plenty of media saying not to lump them all together. Not here. Russians are being talked about like they're almost subhuman, and the entire establishment is fully on board.

I know it's cool and edgy to hate tiny hats and make Holocaust jokes on KF, but I'm really wondering... is this how things started for Jews in Nazi Germany?

I've heard some Russian owned businesses have been hit by vandals already. I hope that idiots don't start accosting people because of their names or accents. I'm glad family's Ukrainian surname isn't stereotypically Russian sounding. I'm glad that I don't have it either. Just in case. I don't trust people to not get crazy. Especially if we end up with WW3.
