tbh, I'm hoping that the shot will help in avoiding severe symptoms and long covid, even if the strain I might encounter in the coming months is mutated. From what I've heard, the science people still believe in it. What's no longer useful is the Sinopharm vaccine of China against Omicron. From what I understand, we are dealing with a mutated strain of Omicron, not a completely new strain.

You are not saying anything new. It's been known since the late 1890s that the basic foundation of "science" is not scientific, but a belief in institutions and paradigms that are constantly shifting. One day science people say "x" then they found out "y" and that "x" was not really the way to go. That belief can be right or wrong at times. With COVID I'm making the choice of trusting them, rather than trusting you guys. I think it's the sensible thing to do.
