Are you getting the vaccine? - Absolute trashfire thread, please enter with caution

it's called moving the goalpost, nigger.
> WEH THE TECHNOLOGY HAS NEVER BEEN USED BEFORE.
> has been in use in 2011 for human cancer vaccine trials
> WEHHH WHY ARE THERE NO CANCER VACCINES OUT THEN
> lol idk. i'd imagine that cancer vaccines would be harder to make, but if you want a source, i don't have one
They were not even able to produce a safe veterinary vaccine with mrna lmao

animals and people are different holy shit wtfbbq?
A technology can be worked on for a decade and still be experimental / new. This is the first large-scale rollout of this kind of vaccine.
and yet the technology still isn't new. you can try to argue it is, but it's not. they likely would not roll out an MRNA vaccine if previous trials for MRNA-based anything were maiming or killing people. or maybe they would. maybe the pharmaceutical industry is that evil that they'd want to kill off half the population. i think it would be bad for business, but that's just me.

how many news stories and press releases referring to these vaccines as "new" do I need to Google for you to convicne you that they are indeed new?

wait but i thought following the news was gay because the news always lies? or is that only when they tell you something you don't want to hear? the media will spout bullshit if it gets clicks. calling it "new" generates interest, but the technology is not new, despite what the news claims. https://publichealth.jhu.edu/2021/the-long-history-of-mrna-vaccines

"news only lies when they tell me something I don't want to hear" is literally what you're doing right now
would you at least grant "mRNA vaccines are the newest sort of vaccines to be invented?"

no, i'm just stating that in this case the news is wrong.
no? we've used this technology before, during the ebola outbreak in africa. of course, because it was found in a limited number of countries, it wasn't commercialized.

edit: i mean i guess it could be possible that MRNA vaccine technology is the newest type of vaccine if nothing has been discovered after it. i suppose that could be possible.

this doesnt change anything I said though. its impossible to know if there are any long term side effects without doing long term tests. just because a pandemic is BIG SCARY doesnt suddenly invalidate the structure of reality and make vaccine BIG SAFE!!
It's impossible to know that there aren't invisible pink unicorns in my backyard too but I'm losing no sleep about that either.

snappy turtle is right. Lurker, have you ever done any programming? in programming even if the programming language youre using is tested and mature, you still run into bugs when you actually write a program. its the same principle here, it doesnt matter if the technology itself is mature, what really matters is what happens when you try to use it in real world conditions (this is especially so when its done on a mass scale)

i'm often afraid of leaving my house because it's impossible to know if something won't attack me as soon as i cross the threshold of my front door. i'm afraid of taking any risks in life because i'm a fucking pussy.

once again:
IOW the vaccine might end up being worse for you than covid itself. you just dont know either way. let me reframe this, at the time the vaccine came out they said it was safe and effective but it turned out they were wrong about the effective part, so what about the safe part?
its really that simple. theres no need to overcomplicate it

The ebola vaccines were viral vector like J&J if I recall correctly.

The first mRNA vaccines using these fatty envelopes were developed against the deadly Ebola virus, but since that virus is only found in a limited number of African countries, it had no commercial development in the U.S.
feel free to prove me wrong, maybe there was a viral vector one in addition to an MRNA one.

Well, they were used on literal guinea pigs.
it is a well-known fact that black people and guinea pigs are pretty genetically similar.

Can you prove to me that mRNA vaccines were actually deployed in Africa instead of just being "developed"?
i concede that i couldn't find any source confirming their use in africa. it seems as though the MRNA version of the vaccine was developed more for the US while africa got the classic viral vector ones.
