You really have to wonder how many people who are clamoring to vaxxmaxx have already gotten COVID. I'm 99% sure I got it 2-3 times, and yeah it sucked for a few days each round, but here I am. I even had a number of the "worst" symptoms (fever, chills, muscle aches, headache, depression, worsening tinnitus, heart palpitations, etc.) but they resolved themselves in a few days. After reading testimonies of vaccinated people with side effects stretching weeks or months (and the ensuing medical bills trying to figure out what's going on), why would I risk that? Perhaps those are rare outcomes, but not worth it for me personally. Maybe I'll drop dead from LONG COVID in a few years, but maybe the vaxxmaxxers will too

There are reasons that range from absolutely retarded to completely rational for not having a specific vaccine. The main actually cogent argument I've seen against it is the novel nature of the vaccine and the speed it was generated, but frankly, a novel virus is obviously going to have a novel vaccine. That said, it's not really up to the government to gainsay anyone's reason for not doing anything, and the government should generally not be able to coerce behavior this way.

This might not be the case if it were another smallpox or the Black Death, where the survival of the species would depend on it.

It is enough of an emergency the government is justified in at least encouraging people to get it, though.

I think it is stupid and irresponsible not to get it without some specific reason, but it's certainly not at the level where the government can directly force adults to get it. Schools may be a different matter, though, but if you are an antivaxer, you probably are going to be a homeschooler and keep your filthy little disease vector crotch goblin at home anyway.
