Yes that's part of the definition I quoted. You compare new diseases to others of its kind, and if it has above average/normal infection rates, symptoms, etc, it is considered an epidemic.

Oh no, we won't get herd immunity to an exceptionally weak virus? What a fucking tragedy. I couldn't care less who does or doesn't get it, I'm just tired of the government telling me what to do. The government has bungled the covid-19 pandemic from day one, and now that we have a vaccine, it should be fucking over.

What probably should have been done about COVID from the start was not having freedom of movement to china, but Nixon was gay and cringe and techno-bismarckist so here we are. Diseases exist, and they're gonna spread along with the people that spread. I'm still not wearing a mask or getting a vaccine for a coof. I don't even wash my hands. I just don't care. Once a year you get a bit coofy or a bit snotty or a bit poopy, that's life man. Why do we need a massive technobureaucratic apparatus to fix a coof?
