UN Argentina's monthly inflation drops to 2.7%, the lowest level in 3 years - Argentina’s inflation has slowed to 2.7% in October, the lowest level in three years in a win for the libertarian government of President Javier Milei

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina -- Argentina's inflation slowed to 2.7% in October, the lowest level in three years in a win for the libertarian government of President Javier Milei who came to power almost a year ago promising to pull Argentina out of a dire economic crisis.

Argentina's statistics agency on Tuesday reported October's number. In September, inflation was 3.5%.

On an annual basis, inflation in October was 193% compared to 209% reported in September.

Milei has trumpeted falling prices in recent months as a victory in his fight against Argentina’s worst economic crisis in over two decades.

The government has promised to reduce inflation below 3% before the end of the year, something it finally did.

When he took office in December, monthly inflation surged to 25%, and despite it having gone down since, ordinary people struggle in their daily lives as the government imposed a radical economic overhaul, including the elimination of previous generous energy subsidies.

Hey, remember how they said he would never win and then started saying he would completely destroy the country and run it into the ground?
Pepperidge Farm remembers.
There were even people in here on the forum going "REEEEE, his policies caused a 25% increase in inflation for a couple of months, he's ruining the nation!" even though the nation saw its first budget surplus since the dictatorship days, and now inflation is low and the budget has a surplus

While this sounds good now he has to make the currency gain value again. Let's see how much "Afuera!" can gain Argentine

It's a good sign that libertarianism has dedicated haters now. That means it's a threat to the status quo.

Remember, this is monthly inflation. Yearly inflation is still around 37.7% if the monthly inflation rate remains the same for a whole year. While that's far better than the 200%+ yearly inflation rate they've had, it's still not the best.
I still have a whole lot of faith in Milei. He's fucking killing it.

Yup. What's important is that its making progress in the right direction, consistently, and the fact its doing so without the government bankrupting itself is a very good sign.
The medicine is bitter, but it works.
But people don't want medicine, they want to just magically have the thing go away. I always find it funny when people bitch about short sighted politicians and corporations, only to then demand the most short sighted stuff imaginable, just because they refuse to accept a bit of hardship today for plentiful good times in the future.

Argentina has better chances of uncucking itself than the EU, hopefully they pull through.
They really aren't. They are as liberal and progressive as anything you see in US, so they will go back to square 1 in a few years. Milei's talking about the economy because it affects them all, but as soon as some parties start to talk about gay or abortion issues in a negative light, the libertarians who voted Milei will go full leftist. I think a lot of people outside LatAm doesn't really grasp how liberal Argentina is.
