I genuinely despise being put in the position where I'm forced to defend coomers but we seriously need a middle ground between Puritanism so severe it would make the Victoria's blush and absolutely horrifying degeneracy right out of Brave New World.
I don't think portrayals of sexuality or nudity are inherently evil or rape or whatever but nor do I think we need triple penetration BBC vomit porn everywhere.
Why can't people just be normal?
I’ve already reconciled a middle ground in my head, but it requires a complete deconstruction of the current internet culture we have set up. Everything I list that needs to be deconstructed is because I believe it has never served any benefit/has served very little benefit. I am not throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
First off, we need to get rid of the concept of clout/monetization. A lot of porn artists are irresponsible with their porn less so out of a desire to corrupt everything in their path and more so because they really really want clout/to get paid. We need to get back to when the most “celebrity” status you could get from the internet before you’d just be forgotten about by everyone was merch. Nowadays merch is a given rather than an achievement.
Getting rid of clout/monetization will by default also get rid of the professionalization of content. Think YouTube, nowadays if you want anyone to watch your video, it has to have a fully edited thumbnail with “engagement editing” and the same copied monotone Critikal voice. This is because of professionalization of content, we need to get back to when you could just upload a video with you as the thumbnail or when you could just post a shitty doodle to Tumblr and you’d have people go “Cool!”
Make the internet 18+, there is literally no good reason for a single minor to be using the internet like ever. I appreciate efforts to keep children safe, but sometimes I fear we develop an an attitude where we’re policing ourselves under the idea that minors using the internet is something that “happens” rather than something that “unfortunately happens”. Getting children off the internet will be a massive benefit that will take away a lot of the puritanicalness we’ve found ourselves in and will just be better and safer for them overall. Even in a world without porn, the internet is still very unhealthy for a child (peer pressure, body image issues, unlearning patience, lack of Vitamin D).
SEVERELY un-politicize the current internet. Another reason I’ve seen some coomers shove their art where it dosent belong is because they genuinely believe it’s some sort of political statement, that’s our faults. We’ve propped up politics as some sort of religion, we need to knock the concept down about 50 pegs.
Normalize ignoring content you dislike rather than leaving hate/harassing/etc. I know this sounds disappointing to a lot of people here, but what I’m getting at is a lot of coomers are autistic. Some severely. And autists suffer from something called PDA, pathological demand avoidance. In a nutshell, they have an ingrained need to avoid anything they perceive as a demand, and bullying someone for being into furry Sonic vore very much can be seen as a demand, leading to them making more of it and making it even more obtrusive just to spite you. Why do you think so many lolcows react to criticism via doubling down? It’s fun, I get it, but if you truly want them to
stop then starving them of attention until they get bored of it is the way to go.
With all of these combined, then eventually porn will go back to being reserved for niche homemade websites rather than “porn celebrities” posting it uncensored on Twitter for thousands of fans to pay them. Because coomers will have literally no reason to shove it in other’s face. They won’t get clout, they won’t get especially praised more than some random DeviantArt base user, they won’t get applauded for making a strong sex positive queer statement, and they won’t even get fuel for their conflict addiction. There’d be literally no reason to shove it in normie’s faces, to the point where coomers who do might become ostracized and considered weird by other coomers.
I didn’t say it was loli and I don’t report it to the FBI, but if you are an adult making pornography out of children’s cartoons characters you should be shamed into keeping it to yourself and keep your sick fetish private at home. Instead they try to find and encourage others to masturbate or eroticize children’s animal cartoons. They try to post this gross shit anywhere they can online.
Just because some creepy, lonely ppl’s sexual attraction and drive got focused on children’s cartoon characters, doesn’t mean they should be unashamedly spreading their sickness online.
