I honestly haven’t given the show a shot since jontron left, though I did see the Dennis the menace episode which was funny. I’ve only ever followed Jon. This thread was genuinely surprising in some ways.

After reading through this a bit, it seems like the whole thing has crashed and burned. Everything bad or controversial has been avoided obviously and intentionally. Their personal lives most be a horrendous mess. How can you go on like this and not just look at yourself as a person and ask why? There is zero attempt at personal growth at all, though I think they’re smart enough to know better.

I’m terrified to think of the Reddit cult following and how fanatical they could be about these people.

The healthiest thing these guys could do is start fresh with honesty about what’s happened and with new ideas instead of beating a dead horse. (Exactly how it worked for Jon). Sooner or later something’s going to break the camels back, though. They’ll need to adapt or keep holding onto the failed/failing corpse of the career they’ve made.

The only question is what will happen and how much of a shitstorm will it be? We already know egoraptor won’t be honest at all- so we’ll probably never know. He’s essentially the “if only you knew how bad it really was” meme.

I agree sadly. Personal growth and becoming a better person can take years of pain/hard work. It’s not just a button.

It’s just heartbreaking what complacency can do. I can easily say that these guys may dread being remembered for game grumps at this point (unless they really don’t self reflect at all).

I think when the new guy (Danny?) decides to leave there can only be growth. It will be a new chance for Egoraptor to use his art skills again for whatever reason and to even start a relationship with another gamer who (still) cares about games and his presentation.

I doubt anyone would want to be part of game grumps at this point though, sounds horrible.

Pays for their product? Judging by how poorly their merch has been selling as of late, how many people are actually buying anything from them, anymore? Even how many people watch their videos on the daily may amount to squat if a good portion of the audience uses an adblocker (I don't think they get income by a view on its own).

The problem there is that they seem to think (or at least one can imagine) they have their hands tied by the fandom if they decide one day to stop doing Game Grumps, yet at the same time they want to make it big in the entertainment industry. Arin has some skills that could be perfected if he makes an effort to work on them (drawing, animation, voice acting), but that's wishful thinking since he fucked up almost every chance to do that and now he's stuck either playing shovelware games or being made fun of for sucking at 3D games. A lot of his Newgrounds ex-pals are doing something with their skills and even manage to get work for bigger companies, yet Arin and Dan only manage to get voice acting cameos because they're known for GG and nothing else, much like the H3H3 cameo on Payday 2.

In a nutshell: silvagunner was trying to make an edgy remixed music video of the Caillou theme song. One clip in the remix included a man screaming at a sobbing boy locked in a glass shower. Turns out, that clip was taken directly from a child pornograpy video, and in the full video, two men who share an uncanny resemblance to the Podesta brothers begin raping the child in the shower.

SilvaGunner recieved the clip (not the full video, obviously), from someone named Worldcorp. Apparently, SilvaGunner was trying to set up an ARG around this video, however once he realized actual child abuse was invovled, he quickly deleted the video and pulled the plug.

I really hate ARGs, because you can usually tell very early on what's a game and what's reality. In this case, however, the lines became so thoroughly and horrifically blurred that it transcended beyond an ARG and transformed into something monstrous.

The Grumps used to sell out every time they dropped new merch; now they're lucky if that happens once in a blue moon (last time it happened was with the Valentines shirts they dropped earlier this month; prior to that, I think it was the body pillow covers - which was almost a year ago).

My guess is The Grumps merch sales have just been so stagnant that they have their friends/associates wearing their merch in the foolish hope it'll improve their lackluster sales. You know what would improve sales? Reasonably priced merch (most of the prices are steep when you consider the probably income their taregt audience actually can afford) and merch that properly reflects what the channel was actually about (instead of Arin's passion projects).

Seriously - 32 items currently listed in shop; and almost half of those are about Game Gyaru , Dream Daddy or Soviet Jump Game. the rest are overpriced posters/stickers/pins.

I’ve always been so curious about this whole situation. I never believed for a moment that WorldCorp was some real underground Illuminati corporation or anything, and the people buying into the ARG made me roll my eyes. But ever since I saw the ScareTheater video, that clip stuck with me. Is there actually any background info behind that video? All I’ve heard about it were unsubstantiated. The inner conspiracy tard in me was intrigued at the Podesta correlation.
