The correct observation, Kiwifarms has a pretty unique microcosm of entirely different populations interested in different things and styles of content. /pol/ types migrated to articles and bump into wamen in threads about tranny horrorcows as uber alles, wamen who mainly aggregate around the Salon and more socially apt dramacows rather than the turboautist ones, though there's some overlap that leads them to bump into old-fashioned cowtippers, etc. etc.
You mostly see certain avatars and names in certain places. Rather than the "entire site going downhill," as anonymous imageboard users tend to say, you are seeing Kiwifarms grow to include retard shit babies who gossip about letsplayers.
Another way to look at it is that the content of the site has branched out. The natural resilience of forums is subforums, the ability to grow in different directions safely. It's a bit like separate boards on 4chan or another imageboard in some ways, not in others. People are interested in different things - they will separate and share only tangential similarities. Board culture was replaced by site culture because anonymity encourages conforming to mass behavior, even though one might expect the opposite.
Forums, on the other hand, while Something Awful always was as Awful as people are used to it being today, on account of "lol he paid to post on a forum" mainly, it didn't become the goon tranny tard haven until the moderation started stepping in and preferencing people of that caliber, and the content they produce.
Don't start bailing from KF until half the cow threads get axe for being too much of a risk "to their health," or the wamen start trying to chase out the incels from the entire site when they accidentally cross paths, or vice versa.
Just making fun of each-other and establishing pecking orders when people click onto a thread in a section they don't frequent like this is healthy and normal.

I find it interesting how rare true forums are, these days, and I think even people who have been on the internet a while have had some decades to forget what they are like.

I think it's because e-celebs are more personal in terms of content with their fans than musicians or celebrities since with an e-celeb they are more relatable than the average musician or celebrity. There is a reason why a lot of e-celeb videos are often referred to as "friend simulators"

On December 15, 2010 Arin Hanson went on a little known podcast called Whachow, run by notorious groomer, and all around ladies' man, Bryon Beaubian. Arin comes out swinging with an introduction that I found funny at the time, but has become hilarious with time.

I do have to apologize that this is all of the episode I have, I archived it years ago and only kept the bit I grabbed the file for. The podcast seems pretty well scrubbed off the web (with the exception of a couple episodes here and here) but I would be very happy to be wrong here.

I feel like a major factor that makes the Game Grumps so boring is the fact that places like r/rantgrumps vastly overstates their importance and it puts the expectations for Grumps drama way higher than it likely will ever be. They're extremely mild in terms of actual controversy, not that they haven't had any, but compared to other big Youtubers and e-celebs, it's very very minor.

I personally think this is because, also unlike other e-celebs, they're relatively normal* guys with lives outside of the Game Grumps channel and unlike people like the Paul Brothers, let's say, they spend most of their time dealing with having normal lives rather than seeking a new way to reach a new height of internet star-tardation. A lot of their drama tends to come from "Arin over-reacts and acts like a bit of a dick on Twitter", or "Suzy says mean shit behind someone's back", or now "Dan sleeps/slept around and wasn't a great communicator", which pretty much sums up the average person you'd run into on a New York City sidewalk.

The fact there appears to be an established playbook on how to deal with it when you inevitably get accused of sexual impropriety on the internet is kind of sad.

But as for getting smarter, I doubt it. In fact I'd go so far as to suggest that for Dan if he wasn't able to use his fame to fuck groupies he wouldn't even see the purpose of being popular.
