So, Matt and Ryan confronted him after he spent $61k over the course of three years? My guesses are:

1) They were in denial that their friend would do this and they finally confronted him.

2) They are dumbass business owners that don’t check the financial health of their company. Or at least hire someone to do so.

Why wouldn’t you check the monthly credit card of that business card? Do they not have budget and ensure monthly spending stays within the budget? They could’ve saw those unauthorized purchases sooner and saved themselves 61k.
How much does the company bring in? If it's in the millions then I can see 61k slipping through the cracks over 3 years.
My guess is that it happened slowly and somebody caught on, but it was too awkward/uncomfortable to bring up to him so it became an open secret.
Maybe Jackson did something to piss somebody off and they finally confronted the situation.

This is more likely because they sure loved to talk about the glamour of having their own company, thinking they're big boys that are ready for the reality of having one

From what I've gathered, the spending started off slow and then Jackson picked it up in the last half-a-year or so since I guess he thought he was safe.

That fucking sucks, I loved Jackson's mixed drink videos.

Heres a link to the full complaint. I imagine its awkward as hell at the SuperMega office right now, since I'm pretty sure Jackson's two other brothers work for them as well.

Over $10k in alcohol
More than $40 spent on Steely Dan sweatpants.
More than $450 spent on a “Persona 25th Anniversary Deluxe Vinyl Box Set” described to his fiancée as an “investment”.
He commonly had doordash/grubhub charges that were over $50, even though he was spending hundreds on groceries and alcohol in the days prior.
Over $70 on Coffee in one sitting, multiple times
$12 on Fortnite every month
Over $500 on Tiki Gonzo shit, which I am pretty certain he showed off in a patreon-exclusive video.
In March 2021, on back to back days he spent over $100 on separate doordash orders to somewhere other than their office.
He spent about or over $7k January 2022 and October 2021 alone, then was promptly fired on Feb 4.

What gets even better is the picture evidence they have

$40 on Minions merch at Universal Studios Hollywood

$450 on Persona merch

Hundreds of dollars at the tiki bar

I just don't know how they didn't catch all of this, did they just have the card on auto pay?

I like how he advertised himself as "America's bad boy of Twitch"
But boss, I got you 4x points!

They make close to 500k a year from their patreon alone, when you include all the merch they sell + 4 sponsors per podcast + youtube ad revenue on their lets plays and skits then it probably ends up being over a million dollars a year

$10K on alcohol... Can't say I'm surprised Jackson couldn't come up with a better excuse, man's brain is cooked.

The Persona vinyl is Kino though, respect.

What's really tragic is that Jackson is apparently a long-time friend of Matt, and even couch surfed with him for a bit. Don't follow Supermega that much anymore, but I feel for them here, shitty situation.

Sorry to break it to you, you're a retard if you think that spending 450 dollars on a shitty soundtrack from a franchise aimed at autistic teenagers is a good decision. Either way, that shit is getting ripped and posted online hours after launch.

Who in their right mind hand a company credit card to friend of a friend? I don't know about you guys if I ran a business,I'd keep plastic behind lock and key and use them as intended. I can't help but laugh at both sides for being retarded and soy respectively. Failing basic rules of buisiness
1) Only give company assets to person(s) who you trust completely.
2) Background check of said people for vices, boozing, drugs, prostitutes, whores etc.

Oney sure missed a bullet for not sticking around too
Oney is probably looking at Matt and Ryan like "Tomar what would you do if SuperMega lost all their money to Jackson would you help them or would you laugh?"
and Tomar and Zach would rub their noses together for 10 hours before Tomar whispers "no".

Edit: I forgot Tomar's Jewish. Oh well.

3) have a weekly check on their expenses so you can stop them from being financial retards.

When I first heard Jackson was a couch surfer forever ago I was skeptical of him. It sucks to lose a friend but I've been buddies with a lot of couch surfers and so many are the most abysmal leeches I've ever known. These sort of people don't make friends. They view you as a job and befriend you to drain you of your money. You gotta realize that shit quick before you end up $61k in the hole jfc.

Company Cards are one of the things that need to be audited and squared continuously; otherwise you risk losing lots of money. That card may be in an employee's possession, but it's your company's ass on the line. I hate thieves, but letting it run for that long screams negligence.

Remind me...Matt was the one from GG we actually don't hate right? I feel bad for him but also lmao Jackson is a dumbass. Paper fucking trail bruh.

I was thinking they were intentionally letting it happen to get a stronger conviction, but in CA apparently the limit for grand theft is only $950

Maybe they were running it by their legal counsel and getting paperwork drafted before taking action, or intentionally letting him rack up an egregious amount to make it harder to defend

When I first say "Supermega is suing" I assumed the next part of the sentence would be a hilarious hurt feelings lawsuit of some kind. Then I saw "embezzlement". Holy ass.

That doesn't make sense because this is a civil lawsuit rather than a criminal one. All this does it make it harder for them to actually recuperate the money in a reasonable amount of time, because I doubt Jackson has that kind of money laying around.

I thought that too, but I can think of literally no other excuse. I've never heard of a business CC being autopaid without even being looked at by an accountant every month.

Maybe they're betting on revenue from that persona box set investment.

How the fuck do you spend $10k in alcohol? I don't drink much, but even if you got one bottle of everything in a liquor store, you'd still come short of that
LOL PARDON? I can walk into any liquor store around me and come out with MAYBE two bottles if I was determined to blow it all with as little as possible. And these are just everyday government ones not even some private Wine store with 30k bottles in the icebox. I doubt you could even buy one of every Wine type in the store even excluding the higher stuff.... How old are you bruh, that's such a spectacularly off comment I can't imagine how someone could think that.

Both Matt and Ryan became annoying Californian lefties that name-dropped JonTron in the BLM podcast to get brownie points and got really boring on their LPs (similar to game grumps), so there's not much to really like about them nowadays

They may be looking into pressing charges (or maybe not since they were friends for so long) in the near future, but they're probably more concerned about getting the money back as soon as possible. Jackson probably doesn't have much of his own, so if he goes to prison he can't get a job with wages to garnish.

It would probably be a pretty open-and-shut case though. Mistaking a company card for one your dad was supposedly going to let you use for tens of thousands of dollars over 2 years, repeatedly and continuously, would be irresponsible to the point of wildly unbelievable. He knew.
