Can confirm on both my account and my wife's account that YouTube will ignore this with certain channels.
She can't get Insym to quit showing up, for example, no matter how many times she tells it to not recommend his channel and actively removes any of his videos that auto play from her watch history.

Same thing happens to me as well, with him and Moistcritikal. But I think a big problem is that there's like 50 different clip channels, so it's likely that we're not even getting recommended the same channel, but some other clipping channel.

Some of it, for sure. I'll bet there's also a small bit of YouTube pushing certain channels and just telling your preferences to fuck off though.

YouTube does this gay thing where videos in your history affects your recommended. So, if you watch a shit video make sure to go into your history and remove it!

I feel like his move to the states was the worst thing he probably did in his life and he knows it. Let's not forget he's Australian and was radically different in 2008 compared to now. He moved cause he met Holly online and GG invited him, the irony is thick. Same with oney although he probably regrets it less cause he has Zach Tom Tomar Cory and others.

Youtube recommendations are garbage doomscroller shit. The best thing to do is clear search history and pause that shit. You don't get to continue videos where you left but so be it

Oh, it only works 50% of the time for me too and it's primarily because OTHER USERS who watch similar things to you also affects your algorithm. I forget how long ago it was, but YouTube basically admitted to giving users less agency in what they get recommended.

I'm not even joking the same Google article also recommends just turning off your history entirely. Gotta love how unfriendly YouTube is to its userbase. Instead of making a clearly intrusive update opt-in the only way to mitigate it is to remove a key feature of the site itself.
 
To make it even worse, autoplay counts as watching a video if you stay for more than a few seconds. There are countless times where I’ve scrolled through my feed on my phone, looked up to pay attention to something else, the video started autoplaying, then I check my history and it somehow thinks I watched the entire video.

OP said they did that. Tends to not work very well when I do it either, since I'll still get react/compilation/react compilation recommendations once in a while. Funnily enough it's for gg too sometimes

I was trying to look into this as well after somebody brought it up yesterday. What a busy day.
edit: this can be considered a misdemeanor according to this article. I don't know anything about CA law (or the law in general) but that seems ridiculous to me.

Yeah, “don’t recommend channel” means “don’t recommend this one specific channel”. You kinda just have to keep blocking individual videos related to GG (not their channels) before YouTube finally gets the hint. I went through the same thing for Scott the Woz.
