To be fair, Oney has a channel manager, HelixD, and he does a really good job.

Brent is just a waste of space.
Expqnding on that, Oney is also legitimately busy with other projects.

Airn likes to claim that he's busy all the time, and the fact that no one outside GG technically knows if he is or not gives him an out. Chris practices 3d art, plays the piano, composes music, draws unique thumbnails for a lot of his let's plays (when someone else isn't making them) is busting his ass on a real video game that he's actively involved with.... And that's just the shit I can think of off the top of my head. Arin doesn't need a manager for what little content he produces. It's fucking let's plays, for God's sake.

You know, watching how much of a disaster GG is becoming kinda makes me glad I never went of doing this stuff as a "serious business" and more of a hobby for fun.

I know I'm not the first person to say or think this but fuck me man, can you imagine being Arin and knowing where JonTron stands right now as a content creator?

The dude bails on the internet for large chunks of time and comes back to millions of views on his latest videos without a thought meanwhile Arin's entire "media empire" struggles to meet even a quarter of that daily all the while constantly losing traction with his audience.

It has to be maddening to stake your entire life on a "brand" only for some shmuck who used to work with you and rarely made content even at your peak stomp the shit out of you. Like no wonder this guy has stagnated when someone you know he deems lesser than him is constantly casting a shadow. Sure, what Arin does is currently stable for him, but I couldn't live in his shoes and not think for a second about how much of a failure I'd become were I in the same situation.

It's fucking crazy.

Honestly? And maybe I'm giving him too much credit here, but I would imagine that the thing that Arin is maddest about most isn't anything you've listed.

He's probably really, really mad that JonTron (and others) have passion for what they do and the happiness they have. Arin was once a popular creator, a flash animator, but people don't really use that anymore and his stomping grounds (Newgrounds) aren't really a thing anymore.

Arin was once a professional animator at Disney, which is something thousands of aspiring animators have wet dreams about, but he hated it and wasn't happy. He then became (after shitting on it as a career/hobby) a Let's Player on youtube - his channel grew substantially; again, something most people only dream about. It didn't seem to make him happy. Him and Jon split up and he shacked up with Danny Avidan as a replacement, but Dan Avidan was also a musician. Arin got to try out the musician life (without any of the struggle) by forming and touring with Starbomb; which apparently he frequently would have to be dragged into the studio and would flake out on tour dates - this too, did not make him happy.

JonTron, for some of his perceived faults (and honestly, no one has explained to me why he was wrong ) is really happy and passionate. This probably resonates most through the fact that he probably didn't need to come back to youtube to do videos - there's lots of more lucrative things he could have done, especially after the controversy. Not only did he come back though, he came back hard. You can feel the passion, care, and fun oozing from his videos and that's part of what makes them so popular - something that's been absent from Arin's life for a while.

Arin, right now, is apparently touring with some other youtubers (Ross "the boss" O'Donovan included) for a "Scribble Showdown" show - an art themed competition. Will this finally be the thing that makes him happy for more than a few days? Only time will tell, but all signs point to "No".

But Arin is just hosting these competitions; not being an active participant, right?

Arin just seems to be the sort to enjoy things more when less work (on his part) is required.

Arin is hosting.

I would disagree on the "less work, more happy" on Arin's part - because GameGrumps is as low effort as you can imagine and yet he seems miserable.

This is news to me. I know he worked at Hollywood Studios in Disney World as a guide on the Backlot Tour, but I don't think he ever animated for them. Only thing I can think of that's he done professionally at a major studio is some writing work at Fox for their garbage Adult Swim ripoff block.

You might be correct that I'm wrong, I recalled him talking about how much he hated Disney, working there, their animation process, but it's possible those are all separate threads.

I can't find where he said it because searching for "Arin Hanson" just turns search results into a deluge of autism.

Pretty sure he is one of the types that ended up being too focused on the moneymaking side of it. I can relate to this kinda with my own writing. The irony of it all is that you're more likely becoming successful if you do your creative work honestly (See above post by @Tanner Glass on JonTrons passionate videos as of late).

If Hanson just did what he wants, which I kinda imagine has to be animation considering the passion he used to have for it, then he'd probably make a fairly huge success. The current animation sphere on YT is trash, his name alone would make him a success if it was just slightly passionate/honest, something most of them currently lack.

I don't think he knows what will make him happy and that's probably his problem. He could very easily get back into animation but doesn't and that's probably because once he sits down at an animator's chair, he just deflates. On my first list, I forgot to include that he also tried his hand a voice acting, game development, and running a touring business - none of which seemed to make him happy.

I sympathize with him because he grew up poor and the goal he was likely working towards was "don't be so fucking poor". Once he got it he realized he didn't have a greater goal than that. Now he plays video games and makes dick jokes and gets cash money just thrown at him for doing so and he can't reconcile it.

So, as best as I can tell, the end of this particular stream didn't go over so well with fans.

After finishing the Pacifist run of Undertale, the Lovelies were begging and pleading for them to do the Genocide Run so as to properly finish off the game at 3:10:31. This was then met with Allie listing of every single negative thing that happens in the Genocide Run in order to dissuade them from playing it, Arin and Dan switching over to Tetris 99 instead, and a loss of over 13,000 viewers the minute they switched over (citing they were playing Tetris 99 because Arin they wanted a mental break).

But something tells me there might be a bit more to that.

I dunno, call it a hunch.

During the section when they were slipping over, people also asked Dan why he couldn't play Undertale instead of Arin. He then responds saying that he gets tired from doing all of the voices after awhile, and also let this slip about why he doesn't play games on the channel anymore:
Dan: "I have some kind of mental block that makes it impossible for me to concentrate and talk at the same time"
He then proceeds to play Tetris 99 for the remaining duration of the stream.

EDIT: As a reminder, Dan was able to beat Mike Tyson in Punch-Out!! and play through Contra and several other challenging NES/SNES games with little to no issues.

EDIT 2: Unrelated: as I was continuing to look into this, one thread on RantGrumps caught my eye, wherein they discuss Arin’s PC arguments in relation to Undertale and other games he’s played thus far, and one user in particular brought up how on top of hypocrisy with Game Gyaru merchandising, it seems Egoraptor has also drawn potential child porn á la Shadman in his earlier days.

It took one Google search for me to find out what they were talking about:

This character is Yoko from Gurren Lagann. Yoko, for those who don’t know, is generally regarded as a 16-year-old. I say “generally” because Gurren Lagan has a plot point in which different towns have different calendar years due to how they measure time, so in some towns, she would be regarded as 14, possibly even younger.

Biologically however, most people agree that she’s around 16. (I could also be talking out of my ass and be completely wrong about this, given I haven’t watched much Gurren Lagann; this is just what I’ve been told and what I could find on her.)

Point being that Arin, while nowadays preaching about androgyny and how progressive he is apparently got commissioned to draw underage porn at some point. Dunno if someone covered this in the thread already, but it still helps to catalogue this stuff.

EDIT 3: He’s also talked about this and more of this type of work on TheOfficialPodcast with penguinz0 if anyone wants to parse through that for more info.

Tbf, if I was married to Suzy I’d probably be miserable as well. Arin wonders why he’s so depressed meanwhile he never got over his first love. I don’t really see Arin and Suzy to be that compatible in the first place.

This is exactly why Arin of all people shouldn’t do live-streaming. I know there will be mishaps like this over and over until Arin finally snaps on a fan moreso than he already has which will result in tons of fans leaving.

Also I called it. Dan doesn’t want to play games anymore. He probably got burnt out very early on and doesn’t even like video games at all now. Last game I remember Dan playing was Limbo and that was quite some time ago.

It's not like Dan can enjoy playing anything on GG. Go back and look at their Limbo play through, Arin is being an attention seeking shithead the entire time.

True. I don't think Dan should be let off the hook entirely, but I can't blame him for losing interest in videogames. Whenever Dan says he likes something about a game, Arin is always quick to put him down or pick his opinion apart. That's exhausting to deal with for anyone after a while, and Dan is nonconfrontational to a fault. It's less headache inducing for Dan to just keep his mouth shut and agree with Arin for the most part.

Did they do Limbo? I remember them doing Inside but I haven't watch anything on their channel for over a year now.

Oh I was thinking of Inside. Those two games basically merge to one memory for me. And since I looked it up, their playthrough of Inside was uploaded on August 4 2016. I can't remember any game Dan has played while with Arin since then.

Dan did a solo Let's Play of his old childhood game Space Quest II which was uploaded March 6 2018. Besides that, I think that may be the last time Dan played any games on the channel

I'm thinking Magna Cum Laude. Either that or Wet Dreams Don't Dry.

Speaking of Dan playing, is there any outspoken reasoning why he didn't finish Willow? it fucking sucks it was a one parter (:_(

Hell, I'd love to see him finish 'A Link Between Worlds'; which he claimed he dropped after experiencing a bad breakup with an ex girlfriend.

The last game that Dan played (that wasn't a vs/board game deal) was the newest Leisure Suit Larry game - for a total of three episodes before it was dropped due to 'poor views'; which is a shame, because Dan is a huge fan of the LSL series and seemed to be greatly enjoying himself.

Arin, not surprisingly, sucked the fun right out of that experience.
