Why exactly are they not just setting up a patron? I don't know much about it, are there drawbacks or is this some kind of "honor" thing that Arin is hung up about?
Speculating here, but I think it's because he doesn't want anyone to know how much they are actually making from GG. With patreon they will have a flat number viewable to everyone, while as they are now, people can only speculate using things like social blade. I think that they have been running at a loss for some time now, mainly because they have no idea how to run a business and keep wasting money on retarded ideas and interns.
Another reason is if they move to patreon, they would actually need to engage with their audience and acknowledge their fuckups or else they lose money, giving the fans a bigger say in how GG operates going forward which Arin would despise seeing how he likes to be in control at all times.

The first part isn't actually true: you can hide the amount of money you get on Patreon, as well as the number of Patrons you have IIRC. Of course this would make them look like Lily Orchard (whom does the same exact thing, much to the annoyance of all who spectate her antics) and they'd look super scummy, like they have something to hide...but at least they'd be making more money than had they just sat there and done nothing.
The only other reason, aside from your second point, as to why they'll never ever open up a Patreon is the same as what I said in the MatPat thread: fans will no longer have the excuse of using the phrase "It's just free content! You should be GRATEFUL THAT THEY'RE DOING THIS FOR YOU!" whenever someone brings up the show's quality.
This is exactly why Arin of all people shouldn’t do live-streaming. I know there will be mishaps like this over and over until Arin finally snaps...which will result in tons of fans leaving.
And all this "moving office" talk, I'm wondering if they're finding a place that is cheaper, but with cheaper it usually means smaller and more restrictive in coding and things the landlord with allow you to actually do to the space, and this is probably what's happening. Honestly, at this point they should just talk to Jirard and see if they can get a space in the TOVG office, especially if they only record once a week.

I don't even think the fans would get mad. Remember how that House Party fiasco went down when the developers said that they never received anything from the Game Grumps after they won that contest to be in the game and the Grumps fuckin' fans got mad at the developers for "calling the guys out"?

I sincerely wish the Grumps had backed out of the whole thing, though - still rubs me the wrong way that they (the Grumps) were rewarding the Lovelies for disregarding Dan's right to choose when submitting his name to the contest without his blessing.

That’s the aspect of stardom (I use that term loosely) that the grumps seem to have trouble grasping. If you don’t make effort to enforce some semblance of boundaries on your fans, especially if they’re as insane as the GG fan base, eventually you’ll be seen more as a character than as an actual human being and they’ll have no problem with doing increasingly weird shit using your name.
If it weren’t for Arin’s constant sperging over increasingly trivial little complaints from the lovelies, I’d consider them one of those E celebs that are nothing more than battered spouses to their fans.

As much as I hate the idea of Financial Officers of any kind, because I think people should be responsible enough to handle their own finances; people and business owners like Arin are proof they're necessary. Because there needs to be a hardcore tard wrangler to slap people across the face with a ledger and yell "It doesn't make dollars, so it doesn't make sense."

So apparently I missed a comment made in the stream where the reason as to why they're doing the censorship as well is to "keep food on the table" and pay the bills, and well...people noticed. Oh did they EVER notice. They noticed FAST.
Now the subreddit team, of course, is in a fucking frenzy as they're trying to get newer mods the second that things started going up in flames while the fanbase is currently forming a coup to move to RantGrumps (AND ARE ACTUALLY SUCCEEDING IN DOING SO ).
So Allie, being the good community manager she is is deciding to ignore literally any complaints whatsoever...except when it comes to fan art of herself, which she'll fawn over.
But only on Reddit. Try and get their attention on any of their actual official media, you will be met with absolute radio silence.
And as if THAT weren't enough, they even somehow managed to fuck up censoring in thier latest compilation, wherein some swear words are censored but other long-ass tangents are a-okay which caused even more confusion!
They can't even censor shit right: this is astoundingly exceptional handiwork from the Grumps. If them being homeless was just them trying to make a joke at their expense, well the joke ain't exactly funny anymore.
I mean, it makes for great entertainment for anyone looking from the sidelines, not so much for the people actively in the fandom who are asking for them to get a fucking Patreon already and stop leeching them dry; they're just shouting at a brick wall at this point.
