Okay im gonna powerlevel a bit and go off topic, but what the fuck are pins for? Im certain none of these people have jackets or hats to wear in public with them. do they put them on lanyards or some shit when they go to cons? Some fry cook nigga i used to know had a push pin board FULL of fucking pins. I gotta admit i don't get it.
Eh, I wear em on my trying-too-hard denim vest and on a couple of my hats, but those are mostly bands and little symbols I thought were cool. They’re fun little things for decoration and shit, but spending like 30 bucks on one made for a lackluster let’s play channel is too autistic even for me.

Yeah, it's like putting a sticker on your binder or a bumper sticker on your car, but nobody is paying more than like 5 bucks for those. Usually theyre just sort of cute little decorations, you personalize your shit, but you arent personalizing your backpack or whatever when youre paying 30 dollars for something some ex-artist shit out, at that point youre just sucking him off.

No you don't understand, it's GAME GRUMPS MERCH.
Not just anyone's merch, GAME. GRUMPS. MERCH.
Sorry for the caps but I picture that to be Arin when the pricing was discussed.

Man, I really wonder why the Sonic twitter and SOA keep promoting this asshole.
The more Arin gets mentioned in Sonic stuff the harder it will be when Arin's shit hits the fan. Sonic players and GG fans don't intersect all that much, and he constantly trashes on Sonic, god knows why they keep it up. I just hate it. Arin hasn't exactly been getting more relevant or bringing people to play Sonic games, his fans hang on his every word so all they learn is to be a member of the "was never good" crowd. God forbid this gremlin get a shout out in a game he hates.

You could even get Game Grumps merch for roughly the same quality for way cheaper on Redbubble or Etsy if you really wanted. Why spend $30 on one enamel pin when you could buy some stickers, a pin or two and a shirt for the same price on those sites?

As far as I know the few fans of GG who like Sonic either hate Arin's bashing or feel his bashing is only okay with "this game" or "this era of games" so...I wonder why Sega is even giving Arin money other than he's a face kids recognize.
Did I just answer my own question like an idiot?
But you could pick so many other youtubers that LIKE Sonic.

This has been discussed briefly already, but if I recall Magic requires a lot of reading and memorization. I get GG are popular with kids but why pick Arin of all people to sponsor?
You don't want to promote to people who already like your games. You gotta sucker in the kids with something vaguely familiar that they'll buy once and then forget about.

Even if you take this, it still doesn't make sense to pick Arin's fanbase to try and fish in.

This is probably the decision of a member of marketing who sees 'the internets' as one massive amorphous blob of nerds, as opposed to what it really is - a swarm of amorphous blobs of very picky nerds that all hate each other.

Nothing about Arin's fanbase these days makes me think 'oh boy, this is a heavily strategy-oriented group who would enjoy this game'. I'd aim at them if the game I was making was something like Untitled Goose Game - a game about experimentation and humour. Which you could argue card games can be, but that often requires being heavily immersed in the game to prevent jokes from falling flatter than the cards they came from.

The guy who runs the Sonic Twitter, Aaron Webber, is a big, big fan of Game Grumps. That's why.

Yuji Naka is a member of Sonic Team and was the producer for Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2. Basically he was saying people who like SA2 were just sucking Yuji Naka's dick.

I could’ve sworn arin has said that MULTIPLE times on GameGrumps

But where's the Checkmark?
hmmmm.jpg

it really seems like something a rich kid buys because they have no idea what money is worth, like a tween or something. I don't know if kids still watch GG though.

You could probably make your own Grumps merch for cheaper.
You could really show how top tier of a Lovely you are with your own custom made GG Merch.

Okay but why tho.
I can comprehend liking someone when they disagree with you, even if they go nuts while disagreeing with you and all but this makes no sense to me.
Wait is that the dude that got Arin all those cupcakes for that one video?

Sega isn't afraid to poke fun at themselves. There are numerous instances where they've acknowledged the bad reception certain Sonic games have gotten, as well as how notorious the Sonic fanbase is. Most companies like to pretend that negative things in the past never happened and that it's all sunshine and rainbows, but Sega has always been kind of odd in general.

The people who run the American Twitter love referencing memes and fandom jokes (including Sonichu), so it's not too strange that they promote stuff from the Grumps.

Oh man, MariotehPlumber. Last I heard, wasn't he the guy who scalped a bunch of Rosalina amiibos because anime or some autistic shit? Wonder what happened to him...But anyways, I think Arin is more of a joke than Sonic at this point. I mean, at least Sonic still has casual fans. No one gives a shit about Game Grumps anymore besides the crazy womanchildren and teen stan chicks.

If I may ask what was the appeal of the game grumps, even when Jon was on the show I never really found it all that entertaining
Mostly just watching friends dick around for fun. Though that's out the window now, Game grumps is more two people who tolerate each other talking about their dicks for money nowadays
