I am a huge retro nerd and i love how happy Dan was when he got to play his childhood games (Goonies 2, Zelda, Punch Out! and so on) but as stated above, it's out the window nowadays.

I watched because it was a quick fix of Jon's humor. Once he left I quickly stopped caring because the only thing Arin can carry is his faggotry

I second that statement, their Out of This World playthrough was was also pretty entertaining for the same reason. Nowadays it just feels like everyone involved in GG would be rather doing something else were it not for the sense of comfort and the milkable fans, it just feels so forced and unfunny. Looks like all the improv and stand-up courses the were supposedly taking didn't pay off.

They should take courses in reckognising when a joke is overdone, the worst was the "...Dad?" joke in their Guts and Glory series, i was seriously ticked off by the repetition.

Both of these. Dan can actually be a decent let's player when he actually plays because he actually likes games, whether because of nostalgia or because he's playing a classic from a later era for the first time, and Jon was Jon with his wacky humor.

Arin on the other hand just makes juvenile dick jokes that go on for way too long (Dan has this problem too when he's not talking about the actual game, which is why he's better when he's actually playing), and hates on games for stuff that's rarely fair and usually his own fault. Pretty ironic that the one constant in the show has been the worst thing about it from the beginning. Not to mention how much they've switched from actually talking about the games they play to off topic locker room stories over the years.

Whenever the topic about why he doesn't game anymore come up, his excuses for not picking up the controller are inconsistent. Ether his thumbs are too big for the tiny buttons, 3D games screw with his depth perception/give him motion sickness, or - my personal favorite (because of how laughably pitiful it is) - a bad break up caused him to lose interest in continuing a game he had previously enjoyed.

If he doesn't want to game, anymore - that's his right; no one can force him to play if he doesn't want to. But just say 'I enjoy watching people play more than playing myself' and leave it at that. All the random excuses are not necessary.

See I dunno, say what you will about GameGrumps quality shifting, the Guts and Glory vids seemed like something they let their facade slip and just had fun being idiots with each other on a game again, the repeated joke thing included (saying something over and over because it makes you or your one friend giggle every time is more personal and indicative of just goofing off as compared to fresh jokes for an audience that aren't as amused as your bud by the one funny quip.) You wanna see forced, look at the recent Zelda games like Twilight Princess, I think they straight up say they're forced, they'd rather be doing other shit, but DA FANS DEMAND, but even without the admission, they're just bored and tense.

Remember the part of the guts and glory series where arin forgot the boost button existed immediately after learning it in the tutorial? And it eventually caught up with him when he kept failing that one level that required the boost? But Arin and Dan were too busy joking about steamed hams?

This is probably the decision of a member of marketing who sees 'the internets' as one massive amorphous blob of nerds, as opposed to what it really is - a swarm of amorphous blobs of very picky nerds that all hate each other.

Nothing about Arin's fanbase these days makes me think 'oh boy, this is a heavily strategy-oriented group who would enjoy this game'. I'd aim at them if the game I was making was something like Untitled Goose Game - a game about experimentation and humour. Which you could argue card games can be, but that often requires being heavily immersed in the game to prevent jokes from falling flatter than the cards they came from.

Wizards of the Coast (MTG's parent company) isn't specifically targeting Arin/Game Grumps - they likely just requested from Youtube the business emails of their top 200 gaming channels for a marketing campaign. They likely don't know (or care) about if the channel is a review channel, a let's play channel, a pro gamer/competitive channel, etc because they want to target a simple "gamer" demographic.

Throw in the fact he's got a twenty five year old girlfriend who probably expects him to drop everything on his free days to spend quality time with her, that's an added strain (mentally and physically).

Well maybe he can tell us how much pressure a dick has when it erects using PV = NRT, but I'm not sure how that's going to get him anywhere.
