And speaking of which, I remember when Ding Dong told their food poisoning story in OneyPlays (iirc a weird pizza delivery guy apparently put something on their order because they didn't give him a tip) he wrote a comment telling their viewers what happened in the end and to avoid doxxing that restaurant or harassing the people that worked there. In contrast, Arin never apologized for his fanbase annoying the shit out of that GameFaqs user that wrote the Sonic Adventure guide.

Or told his fans to leave a Twitter user alone when she came to their livestream to apologize for poking fun at Ross (I'll have to look up the clip again, but I'm pretty sure she mentioned in her donation note that Grumps fans were harassing her on Twitter after the incident - so they were well aware what was happening, and said nothing to address it; Arin just double downed on his BS attitude).

I think my favorite part about it is the people Chris is working with. I don't know all of them however one person in particular really caught my eye

Matcha Ragamuffin (Penniless Ragamuffin) was an animator on multiple GG animateds but also took part in the Oney Plays LOTR collab. She's an extremely good animator and has been dipping into programming/3d designing lately, but I love that Chris is working with animators who have helped in his other projects as well.

I haven't played Spooky's but I believe GG actually played it on their channel so that also adds to the good shit.

God the more I read into how successful Chris is with his game's response and Arin's response with his game it's like night and day. I'm so happy for him, and Chris seems to be responding to their tweets about gameplay with good vibes.
Chris also played Spooky's Jumpscare Mansion and seemed to really like it, I wouldn't be surprised if that's what got the two teams talking

A little update to Jaiden's video. She posted a disclaimer in her comments section about not leaving negative reviews

'Jaiden: DISCLAIMER: Do NOT go to any hotel websites and make false bad reviews on their pages. It's immature, and I've recieved a concerned email from a hotel we didn't stay at saying they've been recieving many 1-star ratings and causing them distress.'

Of course, at the time of typing this out, she didn't bother pinning this message of hers; so it's now buried in the mass of comments; making its purpose utterly useless.

Yeah yeah yeah Jaiden comes off looking dumb and Arin’s tour company comes off looking even worse, but can we take a moment to appreciate Arin is still trying to keep this going.

Already found a copy. Haven't read it yet outside of the excerpt from a while ago, but I expect the full thing to be about as boring as that was.

Edit: Removed the direct upload because of potential DMCA issues. Instead, here's a version of the above image of Arin "I'm My Own Uncle" Hanson that just won't embed for whatever reason: https://gofile.io/?c=uTvFyd

Do you ever stop to think about how much this must be costing Game Grumps? Publishing costs alone must be high but the make-up, prosthetics, sets, and costumes, just for this one uncle character must be hell on their funding. He's probably run out of money to be fair because this is a half-assed job

I've followed Jaiden and been watching her shit for a bit (it's a guilty pleasure of mine, I'm a faggot I know) and she always came off as kind of a cool person. She was one of the few Storytime animators to find Ser Pelo's parody of them funny and not throw a bitch fit (like a certain someone else did) and always came of genuine from what I've heard about peoples run ins with her offline.

Plus (and I'm basing this solely on the info from her videos), she seems to have come from a good Asian family, the kind that enforced some level of discipline on their kids and required them to maintain a certain level of self respect but also didn't go completely ape shit on their child and treating them like a failure if they didn't have straight A's in school while also keeping up with 50 extra curricular activities.

Honestly, it maybe bias, but I'm gonna defend Jaiden here a bit and say it was a mix of her being ignorant to the situation and Arin keeping their group in the dark while trying to sleaze out a few free rooms. She's a bit younger then Jontron, so she's just a bit to younger to have grown up with Arin as "Egorapture" but she's in the target age range to have grown up with what is believed to be the Golden Ages of Gamegrumps. She probably has a bit of hero worship of him like Jontron had when Gamegrumps started out and I wouldn't be surprised if her entire opinion on the situation came from Arin complaining about it.

She should still pin a comment on the video telling people not to harass the hotel staff or website though.

I discovered her stuff recently. She seems nice enough and her stuff is amusing. Sucks she's connected to the Grumps though. It's like "You got your aids in my peanut butter!"

They didn't self publish. They roped in some publisher to shovel it out. Costs of makeup? Bah! Looks like something you'd get from a Halloween store for $20. I doubt this is costing them anything.

It would cost them their self-respect... if they still had any.

Here's the "interview" where that screenshot came from, since no one else has bothered to post it here.
By the by, the book on launch day is currently at #2,700 on Amazon.
Great marketing Arin. You pulverized that horse so damn hard that the subsequent paste has gone right back into the Earth and soil and turned to dust. You're pounding dirt Arin.

What's going on here? Is this an issue with the scan or with something else? The missing letters are Th (capital T, lowercase h) each time, btw)

Also, the chapter 17 title is definitely missing a space in the actual chapter title. I'll get a pic when I can.

Even then, the capitalisation is inconsistent. to/and/the are all not capitalised unless at the start of a chapter title but 'Is' is capitalised.

2,700th on launch day, when the book was trending so well over the last several months.

With these poor launch numbers added to the suck-tacular response to SJG, Arin must be having a conniption fit.

I wouldn't be shocked if this was deliberately done. Remember, 'Uncle Cecil' is a shit writer with a very high opinion of himself/his talents. Having glaring spelling errors and not allowing a spell checker/publisher to edit would be keeping things in character.

It would only be deliberate if an A.I. wrote it.

"Chapter 17: A Reminder That Sometimes the Media Lies to You And I've Elected To Teach You This Lesson Because This Is The Actual Chapter Where You Find Out Who Did It"

Incredibly long/self-deprecating/self-aware/title aside: Hey, pot? Meet kettle.

...Seriously, how can someone be so self-aware of the situation, and yet so goddamned dense!?

I think they're trying to do a (shitty) take off on Ghosts/Aliens.

It wouldn't be surprising if the conversion actually got fucked up in the process and they didn't bother to check despite being released like, what, 2 months after the announcement?

But hey, at least the book got raving reviews from prestigious sources:

The worst form of critique is 'doing the thing but rolling your eyes while doing it'.

I think it’s an issue with the scan, something to do with weird fonts not going through properly. Still, 99% of the actual “story” seems to be there outside of a couple instances at the start of chapters/scene changes.

Read the prologue and part of the first chapter. Got bored quickly so definitely not my bag, but it's totally something I would have enjoyed as like, an eight year old, in the vein of Nancy Drew. If he had an editor or a co-writer it's not a terrible concept. Execution is bootyass from what's already released. Biggest sin is that it's typical.
