Finally there's some new dumb shit to talk about in their actual content again, instead of fucking T-shirts and generally swindling their fans.
Was beginning to worry there for a second that Arin wouldn't be a complete moron for more than 10 seconds.

So do any of you remember the censorship spree the Grumps were on way back in June? For those of you who don't remember nor want to go back through the thread, I'll give you a summary:
How fitting that during the inaugrural 100-page mark, everything in the fanbase just got set on fucking fire. Again.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=sR1dlpX9bhI:8810
So apparently I missed a comment made in the stream where the reason as to why they're doing the censorship as well is to "keep food on the table" and pay the bills, and well...people noticed. Oh did they EVER notice. They noticed FAST.

Now the subreddit team, of course, is in a fucking frenzy as they're trying to get newer mods the second that things started going up in flames while the fanbase is currently forming a coup to move to RantGrumps (AND ARE ACTUALLY SUCCEEDING IN DOING SO :story:).

So Allie, being the good community manager she is is deciding to ignore literally any complaints whatsoever...except when it comes to fan art of herself, which she'll fawn over.

But only on Reddit. Try and get their attention on any of their actual official media, you will be met with absolute radio silence.

And as if THAT weren't enough, they even somehow managed to fuck up censoring in thier latest compilation, wherein some swear words are censored but other long-ass tangents are a-okay which caused even more confusion!

https://youtube.com/watch?v=rk7r-uzNqdY
They can't even censor shit right: this is astoundingly exceptional handiwork from the Grumps. If them being homeless was just them trying to make a joke at their expense, well the joke ain't exactly funny anymore.

I mean, it makes for great entertainment for anyone looking from the sidelines, not so much for the people actively in the fandom who are asking for them to get a fucking Patreon already and stop leeching them dry; they're just shouting at a brick wall at this point.

EDIT: And before you ask: yes, I'll be archiving most of this is just Reddiy shit. Reasons for both are as follows: 1,) As was established, this and the YouTube comment section is the only actual remnants left still active and still engaged with the Grumps an 2.) I am tired as fuck and do not feel like archiving the remaining Reddit posts I haven't done yet. I'll do that and edit in the timestamps on my last post tomorrow. Apologies, just wanted to get this out ASAP while fire's still hot.

EDIT 2: I'm leaving up that word salad edit for posterity, but I will also edit in the archival links, provided graciously by Suck the Cock:
Due to, I shit you not, a video created by MatPat from Game Theory where he talks about how YouTube's new rules would mean that you would need to censor video games that had increased violence in them in order to keep your videos monetized, Game Grumps decided to start censoring their content. Badly, but they did try censoring it.

...Okay he didn't actually say that, and even YouTube themselves have said that this is bullshit and you just can't have excessive swearing in them in the first minute of the video (i.e. just saying fuck shit ass fuck shit tits ass fuck motherfucker twat-waffle shitsteak in the first minute) and that even the algorithm can detect video game violence over real violence, but that's what I can only ASSUME is the conclusion the Grumps made. Because immediately following that, they started doing the censor swearing throughout the entirety of their videos and censoring any violence in whatever video games they've been playing...while also having hidden dildos, naked spinning flashing Sonic the Hedgehogs that sent an epileptic person to the hospital courtesy if their fantastic editor Ben, and Arin getting "hydrated" (drunk) on streams, but I digress.

This upset the fanbase so badly that people began to leave en masse until the Grumps changed this and within about a week, they backpedaled on this decision. And for the most part - at least from an outsider's perspective - their channel was still monetized and they didn't face any issues with the algorithm from then on.

At least that's what everyone thought.

Cut to now where the channel is doing their annual Ghoul Grumps episodes (and not being complete whiny dipshits about doing it this time), and...surprisingly: everything seemed to be going pretty well! There was a new intro finally, they were bringing back the varied backwards messages, they redesigned their Grump heads, generally all really cool things that the Lovelies had wanted them to for years.

But then came the games.

We've got two series running so far: Dead by Daylight and Alien: Isolation. And both are suffering from the same massive issues: they're heavily (and BADLY) censoring the games, to the point where any excessive gore (i.e. whenever they impale somebody on a hook) is instead covered up by badly rendered CGI animals dancing onscreen. No I'm not joking.
This first one's not too bad.

Timestamps are 9:54, 13:34, 44:05, and 44:54, respectively. Give or take a few seconds.

This rightfully had a lot of the fandom both confused and mildly pissed but the Lovelies as usual came in with the "it's just so they don't get demonetized" argument: yadda yadda yadda, you've heard this all before: posting more screencaps from the Lovelies at this point would just be redundant since I've already done that in my previous posts.

Then the second episode of Alien: Isolation came around (the one where we actually "see" the Alien, because Arin is slow as molasses on a flytrap in Summer) and they continued this censorship with the death of Axel cutscene, and now people are starting to raise a few eyebrows. Because what's the point of an Alien Isolation series where you can't actually see the Alien?

And as many people have pointed out: thousands of other YouTubers have played these games with no such issues whatsoever. Yet Grumps are the only exception and have given no explanation thus far as to why this is happening. Instead choosing to just shill their merch on their social media. Granted, there's still defenders of the content but the general consensus seems to be that the censors are a bad decision.

What's weirder is that it's only for people getting impaled or more "intense" gore; like that one comment pointed out, they'll still keep up a man getting his brains blown out: but if the Alien? Well shit, gotta censor that shit right quick. Can't have an Alien show up in this Alien game. Hooks? Impaling? Pah, not in my multiplayer murderer simulator.

...Arin, if this didn't work in June last year, what makes you think trying to do it a second time would work? And if this isn't Arin and instead Ben doing this: just use a black censor bar like everyone else. You're not being quirky, your edits are awful, please stop.

One would ask why they don't play less violent games for Halloween if they're so paranoid, but we know exactly why,

These titles are popular YouTube/Twitch bait memes and other, less violent games don't pull in as many clicks.

Them dozens of extraneous employees don't pay for themselves! Man runs a business!

the funny thing is, this is trend chasing far too late. DbD lost a lot of its community due to general dev boneheadedness (from my understanding anyways), and AI hasn't been relevant for six years.

nevermind the fact that given how shit arin is at video games generally, i can't imagine that his probably rank 20 gameplay in DbD is remotely interesting.

I have a DbD thread. It's still consistently popular on Twitch. Still in the top 20. YT views are generally good for the more known YT players. A lot of the community, myself included, are hanger's on because the devs continuously waive a carrot on a string for balancing it. For the time being, the devs balance it by forcing killer players to grind for perks and/or buy characters for perks to slow the game down.

Arin did poorly, looked like he was playing with a controller, but even he understood that the balance is bad in DbD.

ah, good to know then. i've never looked into it much more than occasionally watching one guy in particular stream it, and i've only ever heard rather negative things about their constant fuckups. and yeah, it's just kind of impossible to properly balance an asymmetric game.

The devs fuck up all the time. The thread is rife with examples. Most recently a community manager's girlfriend was caught selling codes for a digital T-Shirt. The devs and Reddit mods Stalin-ized the post and evidence calling it out.

That and the Halloween event was a major fuck up and exposed how greedy the devs are.

I disagree that you can't balance a game like this. Obviously, you can't achieve perfect balance but you can get close. All you have to do is make the killer powerful so survivors are actually afraid of them and can't 1 v 1 them.

Even if DBD is still going strong, they're weird picks for Halloween 2020.

Where's Phasmophobia, Arin? These seem kind of half assed to me. If I were a fan I'd be pissed. If they were actually engaging videos or Alien: Isolation was one of their favourite games, I'd get it but it just seems like random spooky stuff they bought on a steam sale. I know GG focuses on older games, but these aren't even retro picks.

Wouldn't this hurt business? Don't one of their half million employees check for trends or whatever?

They do, but unfortunately the Grumps record a backlog of videos, including these Ghoul Grumps videos about 3-4 weeks in advance. So it's likely that at the time they were recording these videos, Phasmophobia wasn't even a thing yet, let alone the next big trend game.

Just thought I'd provide a little update on Arin's cameo, as of today hes at 269 revews, which means hes had a minimum of 269 customers since he started late august, which translates to roughly $26,000 from his cameo alone. Meanwhile Dan is at 421 reviews jesus christ which are ALSO $99 each. Thats just over $40,000. They've made a minimum of $60,000 in slightly over 2 months and somehow still seem to be burning cash.

Let's be real, they made accounts on that site specifically because they wanted to burn money

Don't forget Cameo takes a cut of that. Not sure how much the cut is but I imagine it would be a 3rd.

I looked it up and it's 25%. So the minimum is closer to $45,000, which is still a lot for 2 months altogether. They'd probably make a ton more if they sucked it up and made a patreon.

Then come back and shell out more of your hardworking money during this rough time for USA with a shirt of Arin taking a rainbow colored shit on Dan's chest.

Just when you think the Grumps merch can't get any more ridiculous/lazy; they introduce....

Bandaids.

$8 (not including shipping) for 20 bandaids. Even Disney brand bandaids aren't this inflated. Not to mention they made no mention on what materials these bandaids are made of (but, going by their tweets, they're supposed;y looking into it). Isn't that something they should know about before putting them up for sale?
