Arkansas rushes to use up their lethal injection drugs before they expire - Seven people set to be executed this month

“This sort of reeks of an assembly line or, as one of the local papers put it, a ‘killing spree,’” said Rozensweig, who represents three of the men.
Jack Jones is scheduled to die for murdering Mary Phillips in 1995 and leaving her 11-year-old daughter Lacy for dead. Now an adult, Lacy Phillips says Jones should pay for his crime.

Having a hard time giving two fucks.

Kenneth Dewayne Williams had served roughly two weeks of a life sentence when he escaped from prison and killed a farmer and a delivery driver.

We're supposed to feel bad about a dude who broke out of prison to kill again?

I agree. There's nothing wrong in being skeptical about prison conditions and how they're run, etc. But this doesn't make me want to feel sorry for someone who escaped prison and killed 2 innocent people.

I never quite understood the peculiar insistence on high-tech ways to off murderers in the US. It just seems to open up a whole bunch of headaches when you could do the job with a rope or a pistol for cents on the dollar.

It started as a way of being more humane in the eye's of the early to mid 20th century when ideas were changing but it was supposed to be more human for the people carrying it out - at least that was the selling point, a lot of people complained about the more traditional way's like hanging and shooting (especially after ww1 with the later, for various reasons) so it's why they changed to less personal way's of ending a life.

My favorite French revolutionary, Danton, said before being guillotined: "Show my head to the people. It is worth seeing."

The best one was the grudge that carried on past death, apparently the head of one nobelman bit another head in the basket who he had a infamous at the time disagreement with when they got the chop one after the other... supposedly they couldn't separate the heads so buried them together...

That's one hell of a grudge if you ask me.
