Shots rang out in Minneapolis early Saturday after federal police tried to subdue a man who was waving around a gun, according to law enforcement sources and video posted to social media.

A 39-second clip showed about half a dozen cops struggling with someone on the sidewalk in front of a donut shop at 26th Street and Nicollet Avenue, when the gunfire erupted.

The officers appeared to scatter after the barrage of shots went off, according to the footage.

The shooting happened after the man brandished a firearm with two magazines, a law enforcement source told The Post, sharing a photo of the firearm.

In a statement, city officials urged residents to stay calm and avoid the area.

“We are aware of reports of another shooting involving federal law enforcement in the area of 26th Street W and Nicollet Ave. We are working to confirm additional details,” the statement said.

More than 100 protesters had been at the scene when the encounter occurred. The man’s condition was not immediately known.

On Friday, protesters yelled obscenities at two people wearing plain clothes who they believed to be agents after protesters claimed their rental car was linked to the incident, according to video reviewed by The Post.

Neither person was an officer.

Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minn.) posted about the incident on X late morning Saturday as the details of the shooting were still unfolding.

“I just spoke with the White House after another horrific shooting by federal agents this morning. Minnesota has had it. This is sickening,” he wrote.

“The President must end this operation. Pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now.”

Neither the White House or the Department of Homeland Security have said what precipitated the shooting, and did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Despite what the Post says about the protestor's condition, Fox News is reporting he died. Spiciness inbound.

He didn’t want to kill anyone, he just wanted them to stop acting like thugs. Whether you think his definition of thugs is retarded is another debate. That’s probably what he was acting on though.
He carried that piece around because he was hoping to find himself in a situation where he could use it against "fascists". Leftoids don't suddenly decide to apply for a carry permit out of the blue. He found out, the hard way, that real life is not like a Marvel movie. Womp womp. Rest in piss, fuckface.

He was carrying without ID, so it doesn't really matter if he had the permit or not.
He was technically not legally carrying, but there would've been no way to know that unless he had allowed himself to be arrested.

In places (like Minnesota) where you have to have a CCW permit, if you don't have it on you while you are carrying, you're not legally carrying. It's usually not a serious crime(depending on where you are, of course), but it may lead to you losing your permit.

I'll hazard to guess that if he had been properly arrested from the first event and found with no ID, he would no longer have his CCW permit, but the locals didn't do shit, so he was free to jump into the foreverbox 11 days later.
Incorrect on about every point. For the 50th time, it's a petty misdemeanor (not a crime) with a $25 fine, and the whole thing (not just the fine, but the entire citation) must be dismissed if you show you actually have a permit. Literally bottom-tier infraction. Going 1 mph over the speed limit carries a fine almost 5x this.

MN Stat. 624.714

Subd. 1b.

(a) The holder of a permit to carry must have the permit card and a driver's license, state identification card, or other government-issued photo identification in immediate possession at all times when carrying a pistol and must display the permit card and identification document upon lawful demand by a peace officer, as defined in section 626.84, subdivision 1. A violation of this paragraph is a petty misdemeanor. The fine for a first offense must not exceed $25. Notwithstanding section 609.531, a firearm carried in violation of this paragraph is not subject to forfeiture.

(b) A citation issued for violating paragraph (a) must be dismissed if the person demonstrates, in court or in the office of the arresting officer, that the person was authorized to carry the pistol at the time of the alleged violation.

And yet he never went for it until he was dead.

Incorrect on about every point.
No, not really, he was illegally carrying until he properly ID's himself, which he never did, while he was fighting with police, which made him an armed felon violently resisting arrest. All he had to do was surrender, and he would've got his ticket and been on his way to interfere another day, instead, he chose to climb into the foreverbox.

It doesn't matter that its a $25 fine, illegal is illegal. Womp Womp.

Some people have been saying that he tried to draw and grabbed a magazine while fumbling for the gun. The video is so blurry that I can't make shit out of it to be honest, can't tell if the black thing in his hand is a phone or a mag for his sig.

In all likelihood, neither could the cops, which is why this angry, violent moron got himself perforated.

What I don't get is in what world is the correct course of action in an 8 man grapple to draw your gun? Even if the gun WAS in the guys hand how does adding a second gun to this pepper spray flavored tangle of limbs help the situation? Maybe if it was taser I guess?

But the guy is already down, he can't even see he's being drawn down on so theres no intimidation factor. The dumbass ice agent just whipped out his gun first and only started thinking after he reflexively put several rounds in the guy from hearing the ND.

Why do you love criminals so much?

"The new footage of Pretti clashing with ICE is real-and irrelevant."

Whats funny is background absolutely is the key thing about whether a libtard will care about this sort of incident far more than a conservative.

Would anyone have given a shit if the exact same sequence of events went down between him and some ordinary cops about some completely apolitical thing? Of course not. If it even made the news which it probably wouldn't and if it had even made it on Reddit since for such a big site they surprisingly overlook a lot of stories, particularly ones that don't fit their narrative, then it would be some blip. Redditors would read the headline that he had a gun and just laugh at him and go off somewhere else.

If he was black then it would be much more likely to make it in the news. Most/almost all of the cop on 'unarmed'/armed shootings that have made a splash are cop on black incidents. Or maybe this sort of thing just happens that way more often.
