i honestly can't see why they did it compared to previous titles. the previous 4 games had AP in the 20-50k range depending on your build, and AC5 was notorious for having some extremely long missions (helped by putting in shit like workshop sites to let you refill and repair). i don't see why AC6 couldn't have just 3-4x'd the AP and do away with repair kits entirely. you already do get the supply sherpa before a big boss or a hard enemy encounter (such as the fight against G1 Michigan)
Because the increased health would result in the game being a walk in the park, especially on shorter missions. If they raised the damage of everything to offset the increased health then you would be right back at square one except everything does an extra zero of damage. This is basic game design.

i've personally seen a mod that attempted to remedy this (which I have played), where it just puts AP at a higher threshold, somewhere like 20k and bases it off of that midpoint. i've done an Allmind route and I've found it to be enough to give you some breathing room, but not enough to make it a walk in the park. AC4A letting you have 34k AP still didn't make it a walk in the park in some missions, especially those against other NEXTs (fucking Big Box)

This game does have a lot more enemy encounters per mission than the other games and the missions feel a bit longer on average. The game does feel fairly balanced with repair kits in mind, but I imagine it's also there for newcomers that only know From through souls and they expect some sort of healing system.

sadly, pretty much every mod nigger tends to turn it into his complete and utter power fantasy. some (old)new weapons like the Karasawa, the Autocannon and the EMNITY are actually quite cool, but a lot of the weapon reworks (such as the Sweet16's exploding shots, Aurora's splitting, and others that I've tried) are kinda dumb.

I hadn't realized it was a full game rework. I've watched some of his weapon reworks on youtube before, I kind of liked the reworked wuerger and eule. I might give it a try sometime.

certainly not a bad one but it still doesn't fix some of the core issues I have with the game. moreso that the AC isn't locked to the camera direction and that hardlock still magnetizes you extremely hard. i do reccomend at least a playthrough of it to change things up, but that's about it. cuz of EAC, there ain't banned servers to PvP with, and there hasn't been some autist making a Seamless Co-op/Sekiro Online style of mod (yet)

It's upsetting that Dameon X Machina has all the things I wanted from Armored Core 6. A decade of no AC games, and they have the nerve to drop a new game without a fucking FMV opening? The weakest OST in the franchise? This is sad.
 
The best part is it only went to 42, so it's still useless with melee weapons.

There's a mod that does this for AC6, among other things, to try and "rebalance AC6 to play more like 3rd gen" and, IIRC from the comments, all it does is make every enemy in the game unnecessarily damage spongy so missions drag out way longer than they need to.

Also how mad do you think @rhobiusvoid will be when he finds out I'm actually a 6th gen baby who has only vicariously experienced all of the Armored Core franchise through a friend?

I don't know. I could kind of get it if the arms could handle the minigun's recoil, but even one minigun overwhelms its recoil management. I think the other beefy arms are capable of running double chang-chens, so I struggle to think of a weapon that these arms could handle but another arm with much better stats couldn't.

Just got Fires of Raven. I swear all of the best missions are from ignoring the Rubiconian liberation front!

Take down Michigan? Face a fucking army, noticed very quickly I needed ammo and 2 chainguns were not nearly enough, good thing some googling informed me that flamethrowers are AMAZING it cleaering chaff

Hunt down Vesper 1 was pretty mid since I managed to instantly nuke him before 2 voice lines were had, but hunting down battleships flying around with infinite energy? Fucking banger of a mission, wish the game gave more of those. Then duel with Rusty which had strong feels.

And finally, Ayre is a much better final boss than Walter, leaving aside that Walter died in 2 tries, he wasn't even properly himself there. But against Ayre? It was a pure battle of ideals, her AC was also a lot cooler on what it could do and actually gave me some shit, took her in like 6 tries, but all 5 prior I left her with a sliver once she started spazzing out all over the place and was unable to deal the final blow

Also, Fires of Raven has a much nicer ring to it than Liberator of Rubicon aside from getting real freedom and not a fucking headmate.

That aside, best waifu is Carla and best buddy Chatty stick, sad she goes with the ship. And frankly, I'm in camp Coral is not worth the fucking hassle anyway, so fuck yoouuuuu Ayre!

It's shame that From is being constrained by newer fans' expectation of Souls game or Souls mechanics but to say AC6 is another souls like is just being disingenuous. If anything we're moving closer toward something like Ace Combat but for mecha games instead.

Honestly when I first heard about repair kits before AC6 releases I have no idea why it's even there when you can just simply add the total AP from 3 repair kits into your main AP and do away with it. Even after the game released and I played through the story 4 times now, I still don't get why repair kit is even a thing. If you're close to death and take damage, a repair kit is automatically used but if you take fatal damage BEFORE it triggers then it is fucking useless. I feel it made the game arbitrarily harder than it actually is.

Fucking finally, I can use something other than Natchreiter legs for lightweight aerial builds. The weight economy of this leg is so fucking garbage that you can barely fit anything usable on them. Want good energy economy with decent defense? Well kiss goodbye to your damage output because all you can have are 2 pistols and maybe a missile rack. Want more weapons? Sorry but only Hokushi is viable here and you can only use kinetic weapons and laser drones.
