And Gizmodo's slow descent into Gawker 2.0 continues.

tl;dr: "journalist" gets upset about how someone makes posts on their own Twitter account, then chalks it up to sexism despite said Tweet-stringing also being done by women. Fails to present any evidence that said Twitterer is doing anything sexist.

Bloggers trying to pass themselves off as journalists and resorting to cheap click-baiting. And Nick Denton wonders why nobody took his site seriously.

He's not completely wrong about the "law and order" thing in Californian elections, but he's off base on the reason for it. It's because one of the two biggest contributors to political campaigns in California is the California Correctional Peace Officers Association (i.e. the prison guards) and the top spot only flips back and forth with them and the California Teachers Association (California's a special snowflake in that we have our own state union instead of the NEA). If you don't pander to the CCPOA, you're missing out on money that other candidates will instead get and will bury you with, because California is an expensive media state and you need that money to run for office (it's even more fun because for most positions we're a "top couple from the primary" slate; a lot of races are (D) vs. (D) and so that money becomes a big differentiator via advertising presence since there's little light between the candidates on the ballot when it comes to policy).

Not much racial about it, it's sheer political pragmatism. Follow the fucking money.

Also, for some reason when I see Arthur Racian Chu I read it as Arthur Racewar Chu. Wonder what kind of thing could've given me that mental association...
