Saw this documentary a bit randomly. Didn't really know who Arthur Chu was, so I had few preconceptions going into it.
I'm not entirely sure what the documentary creators wanted to achieve with this, but Arthur really doesn't come out of this looking good. It becomes very clear that he's some self hating narcissist that got a few minutes of fame finally being better than other people at something, and can't let go of that feeling. he talks about how he tried so hard to be american as a kid, and it becomes clear that this obsession now has turned into anger at the rest of the society for not fitting in. He talks about being angry at women for not wanting him, to then start talking about Elliot Rodgers, projecting all of his own insecurities on everyone else. And maybe most damning, we see him talking all the SJW talk points about women and minorities he lifted from someone else, and then we see him at home where his wife does all the work while he sits on the bed with his phone. Seems like a proper asshole.
Can't say I'm surprised by that revelation.
