Bingo. EU rules are designed to shaft the US companies who dominate the Internet and most everything else. Not so much to benefit EU companies that compete with them, because there aren't any. More to stick it to Les Anglo Saxons and to have a stick to beat those companies with to get payouts to Brussels. Now the UK is leaving it's likely to not be too sympathetic to that sort of thinking.

Yeah make no mistake, as people have been saying for years, the UK is only going to re-implement every law the EU had verbatim or even worse.

I'm just happy the EU is dying.

I don't think that's true at all. If the EU makes a law that is designed to screw US and UK companies, the UK won't implement it.

That's not to say that UK politicians won't come up with something stupid on their own like the porn ban or hate speech laws that criminalize 'misgendering'. Though even there the porn ban looks like it's being quietly abandoned as unworkable and the changes to the Gender Recognition Act seem to have been binned too. Both were terrible ideas that somehow stumbled on in zombie form under May's horrible regime but which seem to have dropped down dead once she left office and Boris took over.

I've got my doubts about Boris but you never know. Maybe he's actually OK.

But probably not
