I feel Talk To Staff is a bit too stuffy for some people feeling comfortable asking small or simple questions to moderators, and I also believe there could be some more levity between staff and users.

Try to avoid using this to interrogate about moderation decisions, like "Why was I banned?" since that's something that genuinely should be handled in Talk To Staff. Threads posted there will be treated with more urgency and seriousness. Generally.

Use this thread to ask us questions, serious or not, and we'll answer them accordingly to whimsy.

how much time do you have to spend dealing with people who for whatever inexplicable reason decide forum super cereal business and they must DM/TTS endlessly with the mods
Thankfully, not as often as you'd think. There's only a few people who sperg out endlessly at getting their posts deleted.
Why does Evil Eddie keep rigging it all against the Bossman?
Because he's evil. It's in the name

In theory, could one be a mod and only actively work something like 5 hours a week in blocks of time?

Also, are mods encouraged or discouraged to engage the conversation? Are there any guidelines on the way you can express yourselves?

There are no time requirements, per se, but you don't really sign up if you're not willing to give a lot back

It's preferred that we be polite in TtS, but people get offended anyways.

Do people often complain about me? I get the feeling I rustle jimmies sometimes.
Nothing comes to mind.

is the janny thread like crabshack but for jannies (worse) that doesnt autodelete itself or more serious/open?
The content of the thread doesn't delete itself, but it's still mostly mundane, with posts saying things like "I have a cold right now."

@0 0 why are you the best mod on this site?
I'm flattered. A lot of my approach to moderation is doing the opposite of what I hated as a normal user dealing with mods.

@Trombonista I heard there is drama in the NBA? Could you please explain it to me, I don't keep up with sports too much. Also I don't have this thread watched, so if you could feature your answer on the front page so I don't miss it, that would be really helpful, thanks!

It involves illegal gambling and the mafia. I'm watching Brandon Perna's video on it right now. He explains it better:

Which 2025 repose has impacted each janny the most?

Do you guys work regular 9 to 5 jobs while doing moderating on the side?

Have you had a user report his own post? Why do you have to give a reason why you want to delete your own post? Is there any reason not to just give "NIGGER" as a reason? Does Null do the banning or can you ban people yourself?
I mean, not anymore. Lidl once tried to start shit because I told her to stop going into threads she didn't like just to get mad and report everyone, but she ragequit and doesn't post anymore after Josh said 1 (one) mean thing about women that he walked back.
Was that him calling public shout holes? I felt bad for Null there. Wrote a big article something he cared for, and 5 posts in it gets derailed into a moid/foid slapfight.

Yes. It allows us to see the reason if we ever need to. If I feel like undeleting your post, I'd be much inclined to uphold your reasoning if there's none available to me. I am able to ban people when necessary.

Yes.

Pretty much only between Lidl and maybe some 5 users. I recall plenty good posts were made (or so my memory whispers).

I believe we are all gainfully employed (which does, at times, interfere with moderating)
