Yeah as long as you have all the main characters be women/black/trans/whatever you can market the movie as having a progressive message.

The actual message of the movie was "blah blah witch hunts are bad trolls are bad" and it's so ridiculously presented that for a few minutes I thought that the movie was some 4d parody of Tumblr extremists (the trigger warning scroll at the beginning made me think this). It's just bad, though.

There's a part where this guy says that he started all the events of the movie "for the lulz." It's essentially a blaxploitation revenge movie with women instead of black people, way more annoying Tumblrisms and way less fun.

Considering:

NEON acquired the picture with AGBO for north of $10 million for worldwide rights, and a wide release commitment. AGBO is the new progressive production company launched by Joe and Anthony Russo.

That's quite the loss.
