The funniest thing is that all it did was shine a big fat fucking light on the reality of it being that Yasuke was not a samurai at all, and the chief expert on his role in Japan was a total fraud.

Yasuke was generally accepted as an interesting historical footnote beforehand. If this was entirely a propaganda piece they did a hilariously poor job.

Apparently the fat bitch is a "legendary sumo wrestler"

I could be wrong but I believe even today all sumo wrestlers are men let alone in 1420 or whatever.

Well, actually, there’s this Californian University guy who wrote a book about Nobunaga’s famous “hambeast” a female sumo wrestler who was the best sumo wrestler there ever was.

And don’t forget about Fatima Al-Wib. The Muslim wheelchair bound blacksmith with vitiligo who created the sharpest katanas that Japan has ever seen.

Ubisoft has done their research. Trust them.

You know, this genuinely would have been a significantly more intelligent idea. If he was a relatively slight man who had good reason to hide his face, he could at least somewhat blend in. And it'd actually work more than well enough with the actual history - he'd be a small footnote in recorded history because he was deliberately laying low while assassining.

Instead he's a giant man of an entirely different nationality who couldn't be easier to spot if he was wearing a KFC bucket on his head.

Last I looked there was some kind of female division, but it looked more like a sideshow without any real significance (like most women's sports...)

Glad to see this game is still heading towards a tremendous fail, and it's richly deserved. These nu-AC games have been revolting pozzed for some time, so it'll be good to see them reap the consequences of that for a change.
 
The funny thing for me about this whole Yasuke inclusion thing is the game logic with how in-game characters/NPCs are supposed square away his presence. I can picture guards questioning people like "Have you seen this suspect?" and offering a description and the response is "No, I haven't seen the only black man in existence for thousands of miles and I will ever see in my lifetime."

Hey now, in ancient Japan there's no better way to blend in than being a hulking man of african descent. Ubisoft taught me that.

Which is why we criticise Ubisoft. If they put some effort, they could have avoided nearly every controversy. Instead, they put zero effort due to thinking that calling critics racists is an everythingproof shield and now they deal with the aftermath.

They added Yasuke and made him a PC whose playstyle is both historically inaccurate and contradicts the gameplay the franchise is known for and is build around which serves to make him a sore thumb from all points of view.

They used a ninja as a main character in Japan but had her be overshadowed in the worst ways possible.

They used a woman as a protagonist and instead of using the fact that she is weaker than the men to have her return to a purely stealth/ambush/assassination gameplay, she had a big counterpart that can go through walls and men as if they were made from gingerbread, defeating the point of trying to find ways to sneak around and fulfill objectives in a clever way.

They did not study the culture of Japan or the architecture, making mistakes the average Japanese customer would notice such as important figures not acting like they should for the time period as well as offending them with depictions of half Torii gates and sacred monuments that are illegal and blasphemous to depict in media.

They advertised One Piece merch. as if it is a replica of their own design, stealing intellectual property.

They based their story on a historical fiction and tried passing it off as real history.

They decided to put Yasuke in purely because of the controversial Floyd Riots and did not think that there might be a problem with the one black dude acting like a human wrecking ball, dealing damage on both property and innocent civilians.

And last but not least, they called everyone racist for calling them out for all the above.

It is death by a thousand axe cuts. Each is devastating by itself but combine them and it feels like you stepped in a slasher movie set. It looks like they did the opposite of what would make sense on every turn thinking that they can do no wrong.

Black man being forced to hide the color of his skin is racist tho, and we can't have that. Let's have him destroy historical buildings and impale tiny J*panese men with his BBC instead, who cares what those slant eyed gooks think?

There is already Japanese content creators having their videos pulled down by Ubisoft, so I expect their jannies to go into full damage control mode when the game releases.
