Just looking at that list of points really paints a picture. He is either the greatest troll who ever lived or one of the greatest hacks since Rian Johnson.

Its impressive how terrible his creative process truly is and how little actual real world experience he puts into his work outside of copying shit from other media properties badly.
Isayama has no excuse. Being sheltered doesn't always mean you're bereft of creativity. If you want to see how a good story works, look into what came before it and decipher from there. Imitating the latest story would usually create an inferior product.

6. AOT was originally supposed to end like pic related (Kaiji by Kiyoshi Yamashita)
That's a really funky looking picture. Imagine if he actually went for that ending, the trio being forced to accept that there be more titans out there in the ocean and the fight for freedom is a never-ending quest.

I mean as I stated earlier he pretty much did since that art represented giant monsters who caused destruction but didn’t cause complete destruction which fits with the whole 80% thing

Reading all this, I can’t bring myself to hate Isayama.
I can't either. Hell, I can't even be mad at him because he spent the entire Q&A panel looking like this.

Look at him. He looks like a sad kicked puppy.

Yeah and he seemed much happier after the whole thing, honestly good for him and hope he succeeds while AOE and Erenfags seethe

I always figured he was a guy who was totally out of his depth after he just happened to stumble upon an exceptionally interesting premise that caught on like wildfire. He clearly had a solid gameplan for the first arc, but after that he had massive hype and expectations to contend with; he simply didn't know what to do next. I hope with whatever his next project is he learns the lesson of not letting his reach exceed his grasp so massively.

Not much a man can do about surprise, overnight success, except ride the wave.

Yeah, y’all niggas gotta remember that at the end of the day this is an action manga aimed primarily at teenage boys, not some pseudo-intellectual “this is how Lord of the Rings would be if it were REALISTIC” GRRM bullshit that was written to be “subversive”. I think a lot of the disconnect comes from fans treating the series as a lot more serious than Iseyama himself imagined it to be.

I think Iseyama himself was treating it pretty serious by the end. Also, by all accounts, this was supposed to be more of a tragic horror manga where everybody died at the end, originally, and it just kind of became an action series as it became more popular.

I thought everyone here was in agreement with line of thinking.

Everyone here, yeah, but not on places like reddit that still treat the series like some dark, edgy, and mature masterpiece.

This is actually a big reason for AOE theorists even existing. They can't accept that the series they obsessed, and boasted about is actually no different from all the other stock shonen anime out there.

Don't forget it came around in the wake of The Walking Dead starting a trend of media centering around zombies.

I just happened to take a joke ”What is your favorite AOT character judging by your astrology sign?” quiz and it turns out that it was Levi Ackerman. What does this say about me as a person?
You're a manlet who doesn't think and/or care about the consequences of his actions?
