Why does Isayama try to make every hyperaggressive dumbasses? Even the people of Game of Thrones weren't the insane! It's like if a 14 year old tried to write a fanfic, but can't bother giving proper character motivation.
There it is. That's the answer.

Isayama never grew out of his edgy 14 year old phase, and now it's fully on display for all of us to behold.

I noticed something, Araki and Isayama are the polar opposites of each other:
Araki is very outgoing (such as being chill with that crazy chick who wanted to fuck Jotato).

Isayama is clearly hates people, even his fans.

Araki's stories are lighthearted, only dark when they need to be.

Isayama's stories are downright dark and gritty and practically hopeless. Not a bad thing itself, but it does lead to needless badly written melodrama.

Araki's characters are vibrant and interesting, even the most villainous and flawed can be fascinating

Isayama's characters are often poorly characterized and cutouts of archetype tropes. Somehow, assuming a character doing something shitty without reason counts as "nuance".

Araki is inspired by the West and incorporates his love for Western pop culture in a unique way.

Isayama simple copies Western material and injects them in a poorly done way (GOT, Nazis, etc.).

I don't know what else needs to be compared.

JoJo never takes itself too seriously, and never tries to talk down to the reader.

AoT takes itself way too seriously, and constantly tries to to talk down to the reader.

Araki embraces the absurdity of his series, and uses that to its advantage.

Isayama outright tries to downplay the absurdity of his series by trying to make it also "realistic", while at the exact same time throwing even more absurd shit into it, which ends up causing utterly detrimental plotholes, and tone whiplash that severely ruin the quality of the overall story.

Araki clearly still has fun writing his stories, and it definitely shows in his work.

Isayama clearly doesn't have fun writing AoT anymore, and it definitely shows in his work.

And most importantly...

JoJo's Nazis were funny, and some of the series' most memorable characters.

AoT's Nazis are not, and are some of the most forgettable characters in recent history.

Thanks man! Your summary is better than mine's!

Isayama's art is so fucking bad I can't tell any of the characters apart anymore.

And I am barely even paying attention at this point. Its like those 80's movies where the detonator is on 30 seconds and the scene takes like 15 minutes to resolve.

I'm really like, "WHO GIVES A SHIT". The sense of pacing is completely fucking dead. There is 0 tension. There is no coherent plan to stop Eren. This thing should literally have 5-10 chapters left to go. But again, it is more. pointless. filler. He obviously, once more, has no idea how to end the manga and is dragging it out pointlessly.

I have never seen someone run into the same problem and never correct it. This is what, the third time this has happened with him where he's had to drag out the story? Because he didn't know what the fuck he was doing or where he was going? I've seen people meander maybe once for awhile, then they realize it and pick up the pace dramatically since they realize it will just keep becoming a problem.

Isayama is content to wander around in fucking circles for years. How do people read this at this point? Its meandering, yet AGAIN. Anything he says that tries to have any impact is destroyed because there's a God walking around. Its like trying to put out a fire on an apartment building when your city's been nuked. What the fuck are you doing? Wow, some people got shot. Pretty insignificant when you have a genocidal manipulator of space time with sky-scraper murder machines basically a short boat ride from the entire human population. I can totally picture Eren dying of Titan Aids and the titans walking around in circles as some fucktarded metaphor he thinks is brilliant but only did because he didn't have any idea how to competently end this series. I wouldn't even be pissed. Just end this fucking manga already. The story has no more beats, there's nothing left here. You've already launched the nukes, its too late for anything else to matter. Right now all we're doing is counting time until we get the shitty end we know we're going to get. I can't even imagine spending money on this.

I just can't bother to care. Its like a really bad 1,000 page Dean Koontz novel I'm reading out of pure obligation and shouting "END YOU FUCK" every fifteen minutes when there's a couple of hundred pages to go, even though the story is basically over.

Pretty much this.

Also the best part of Araki is that he doesn't understand the West at all and feels like everything is a mad max fashionista hellscape which makes everything fucking hilarious. He just embraces that shit.

Not gonna lie, I think this series can be saved if one of the Marleyans busts out a machine gun from inside their chests.

This series can only be saved by a boy shouting "JANKEN?!" At Eren and sucks him in through a hole in his cheek when Eren loses at rock, paper scissors.

I think one issue with the filler that we haven't talked about yet is that this still all has to fit into one season. Supposedly for now season four is the last season in production for this series, and while they have cut down on a lot of filler in the past, managing to fit all of this shit into one season is extremely doubtful.

I don't think they're gonna be able to do it, to be quite honest. Either they're gonna have to scrap, and condense a fuckton of stuff, make their own ending, have to make another season, or just leave the thing unfinished.

It could go either way at this point, and it's just another reason I can't wait for season four to eventually drop. It's gonna be even worse than season eight of GoT.

Look at Samuel's hands, he was disarmed. Connie killed him out of sadism.
He was about to blow up the ship and Connie is not exactly a thinker.
Zombie Armin was kinda funny tho, imagine being able to transform into a mighty all powerful nuke at will but you have to take bullets to the face like a bitch or else you will fuck everything up.

I'm more concerned about how the colossals supposedly reached the continent so fast, do they become 4 times faster on water instead of the realistic 4 times slower?

You know, if anything, I hope Yelena's words will do something to Levi. I know they won't, but like usual, I'm vainly hoping for something to have a lasting impact on him.
I'm more concerned about how the colossals supposedly reached the continent so fast, do they become 4 times faster on water instead of the realistic 4 times slower?
I don't know. Everything in story seemed to indicate that they were going slower than the Ross Titan was, so the fact that they made it to continent fast despite everything else pointing to the contrary can just be explained by Isayama fucking up again, and forgetting what he himself just wrote.

Floch feels like he's becoming too much like a mustache twirling villain in this chapter. I liked that he was the one being confronted with the truth for once rather than the other way around, but then he didn't have an answer beyond "I thought about it". I wonder if he actually has an answer and it's just being delayed, or if isayama doesn't know either. guessing the latter.

Isayama never grew out of his edgy 14 year old phase, and now it's fully on display for all of us to behold.
I think at some point isayama realized this, and decided he was ashamed of it and that the series needed meaningful real world social commentary. so we got game of titans and hamfisted ww2 allegories. he didn't raise his work up, he just weighed what was good about it down with this crap. I say if you wanna make "edgy" shit be authentic about it. don't try to shift gears halfway through unless you really planed it out well. as much as edgy is used as an insult, there's nothing inherently wrong with it. I mean look at devil man. like anything it's just a matter of whether it's good or not. and attack on titan, at least through the clash of titans arc, was consistently good. great even. now instead of good it's "deep". it was already as deep as it needed to be, this all just seems silly.

I was just reading Soul Eater and it reminds me of this, the latter parts of the series try to be philosophical and socially conscious but it's just goofy and eye-rolling instead. also they forgive a character for soul-nuking an entire city.

Isayama is content to wander around in fucking circles for years. How do people read this at this point? Its meandering, yet AGAIN.
I have feeling the issue here is that he didn't plan it out beyond his original "the mist" ending. we probably would have seen zeppelins over the horizon or something during the return to shiganshina arc, we get the basement right before the end, and it ends with everything getting irreversibly fucked up either for eldia or the whole world. shit is horrible but ends memorably. but he wanted to have something "more" than that, so we got the marley arc and onward which has varied wildly in pacing. I actually really enjoyed it early on up through the attack on liberio, but after that it ran out of steam. and I remember being excited the narrative would be switching back to the island lol.

I'm more concerned about how the colossals supposedly reached the continent so fast, do they become 4 times faster on water instead of the realistic 4 times slower?
it depends on far away the closest point to marley is. it's kinda like madagascar which is close to the mainland, but this isn't quite to scale either. some guy once swam the english channel in seven hours so it's not impossible that they got there this quickly depending on the scaling.

It's obviously implying that Floch suddently became such a power mad piece of shit that he already knows but only cares about ruling a new, smaller world anyway.

I'm sorry, man, but I fail to see how "meaningful real social world momentary"=time-travel, and 2000 years of worldwide racism because of pigs.

I'm not saying Isayama wasn't trying to go for what you're saying, but if he was, than he's even more autistic than I thought.

I genuinely think that's what he believes this is.

He was about to blow up the ship
And how was he going to do that when Connie was on top of him and Armin was next to the detonator?

It's a moot point though because the plane plan makes zero fucking sense, even in theory. How the fuck is Eren supposed to hear them over the sounds of everything Crumbling in the Rumbling and the sound of the plane itself?

The ship is far more stealthy and fast because the other option is to have Armin carry them all as a colossal, which is conspicous and Eren probably expects it anyway.

Also they they can't get away with Armin transforming without the Yeagerists noticing and trying to stop them.

I get that a plane is the best way to get them to Eren, what I don't get is how they expect Eren to hear them with the Rumbling going on, it was shown when the Wall Titans were first unleashed that Armin and Mikasa couldn't hear each other even though they were right next to each other.

Also with the Armin getting shot thing, its kind of irrelevant since he can just regen that out of titan form anyway, but really, Attack on Titan is probably the only media I can think of where a God that defies time and space about to commit an apocolyptic genocide is actually fucking boring.
