Wtf is going on there?
As far as i am aware.

it is a Machine designed to torture somebody by making them eat their own shit, IIRC this happened -BEFORE- Erin got to the Cabin so yes..while there was a major plot point of "The entire mystery of Erin's father and his connection to the titans and the titans origins."

So the writer decided to take time out to have a Shit eating torture device in a chapter when he could have been getting to the actual important shit.

maybe the highschool romcom sold well enough that he was told to make a sequel and given much more freedom. so he repurposed a different larger scale idea he had into said sequel, instead of just doing another high school dating sim or trying to get his unrelated dark mecha story greenlit on it's own.

I mean, I'm playing through Extra now and its really fucking weird, there's NO signs of what's going to basically gut punch you. But there is mecha in it in a video game so you might be right. But hey, its a really interesting idea and resulted in Muv-Luv Alternative, one of the best VNs of all time. So sometimes crazy shit works.

Unrelated to AoT but can confirm ARMs is some good shit. Some of the finest sci-fi fighting shounen shit. Only problems I have with it are the characters are kind of stock and it has the "couldn't wrap all of its story elements in the one arc it should've so the proper final arc feels out of place" issue.

I'll take a look. My policy on Manga now is to only read/download completed or near completed series because there's so much out there. I can barely keep up with seasonal anime. Seasonal manga will make me go crazy.

Except for Attack on Titan. That I look forward to see what that heaping shithole of a story will do next and laugh at it.

Funny part? He's considered a good guy.

I don't know if Zackley was considered a good guy by that point. I know he was beforehand, but Pixis and Erwin expressed heavy disapproval and disgust at what he was doing. Not that they actually try to stop him, or anything, but I'm pretty sure he was supposed to be considered a bad guy by then.

How was this Manga not considered shit before the stupid PATHs garbage showed up? Like shouldn't this be a major Sign that things are going off the rails?
Because it was still about Titans, and not about Nazis.

Though honestly, I still have no idea why the shit-machine wasn't considered a huge red flag that the editors should've started putting the break on things.

Keep in mind, the position of AoT editor is cursed. I have no clue if this happened before or after the respective breakdowns where an editor locked themselves in the bathroom in hysterics, and the other one that killed his wife*, but if we assume being Isayama's tard-wrangler will be that damaging to someone's psyche, maybe those that could slam the brakes decided a paycheck was better without the mental issues and just went "uhuh" through every meeting.

*Yes, I realize there must have been much more wrong with that guy than just being AoT editor to cause such a tragedy, but it's still darkly hilarious to imagine that being the actual motive.

When I saw it, I just thought it was one of those weird things that sometimes pop up in anime. I didn't really consider it a warning sign. As to his character, I don't really remember, all I know is he hilariously gets blown the fuck up.

This thing doesn't have an editor. Its just a fucking mess and whoever is editing is making sure the pages are in the right order, the grammar is correct and the typesetting isn't off and going:

'Yes Isayama senpai, Eren's plan for the past 6 years was to kill off 90% of humanity was a good idea' *collect money*

That's what editors on AoT do these days.

Zackley was the judge that presided over Eren's trial and allowed the infamous and utterly retarded courtroom scene to happen. I wanna say him not intervening when Levi was brutally assaulting a defenseless minor with uncontrolled, explosive shapeshifting abilities in a backed courtroom while neither he nor anyone else seemingly had their 3DMG with them was foreshadowing for Zackley's horrific sadism, but I highly doubt that, and even if it was, the scene is still by the far the dumbest thing in the entire series imo.

He might also be the one in charge of the SC, and that might be why Erwin and Pixis don't try to intervene with shit-machine shenanigans, but I honestly cannot remember if that was true.

I guess it was meant to horrify the people there because they barely knew jack shit about him. For all they knew his body would just react reflexively to external stimuli like that and just up and murder everyone.

It also cemented Levi as a cold 'bad ass'. But it would have just been better to tell him "I might have to be a bit brutal to convince them. I might have to hurt you, but they're terrified and its overriding their rational thoughts. I need something to shock them out of it. Brace yourself."

Instead he just beats the ever living fuck out of him from nowhere. Eren might have reacted differently from his, well, I don't even know what you'd call Levi in relation to Eren. But at least tell the poor fucking kid to build some trust and the reason why you're beating the shit out of him. Then treat him to some good food and beer or some shit afterwards and tell him he endured it well and apologize. It just portrays Levi as an absolute sociopath who should most certainly NOT be in charge of Eren. You should have one guy there guiding him and Levi just in the background in case he gets out of hand. Why would Eren ever trust Levi after that? Just doing that to him out of nowhere.

Now that I think about it, its even dumber. They entrusted his care, development and everything to one guy who is probably the most anti-social of the squad and responsible for Eren's execution. Imagine if that was the guy guiding you, this cold calculating killing machine who is constantly weighing the options if he should slit your throat or not. No fucking wonder you'd want to murder everyone.

When I first saw it, I immediantely got the feeling something was wrong. I can't really explain it. It was just so far out of left field that I just kinda snapped awake, and got a bad feeling about the future of this series.

Just to explain, Zackley was the judge that presided over Eren's trial and allowed the infamous and utterly retarded courtroom scene to happen. I still think this is just a repeat of what happened with Toriyama during the Buu Saga.

The series is extremely popular, making an ungodly amount of money, editors, and publishers give the creator more freedom to do what he wants, not knowing what happens when you do that to an autistic sped (especially not one as hateful, and spiteful as Isayama), and the entire series spins out of the control.

I guess it was meant to horrify the people there because they barely knew jack shit about him. For all they knew his body would just react reflexively to external stimuli like that and just up and murder everyone.

No kidding. This is why I still believe the majority of the problems in the series are Levi's fault.

Honestly, if I had to rewrite AoT, I'd keep this scene, but because Erwin is intentionally trying to weaken and the SC look bad because he's the bad guy.

He tells Levi to do the thing, Levi does so trusting Erwin even though the plan is retarded, Zackley is not a sadistic dumbass and rightfully has Levi arrested for pulling the stunt, and explains the shit that could've obviously gone wrong, Eren's given to the custody of whoever just not the SC, etc.

I still see fans trying to frame his assassination like it was an evil act of the Jaegerists, and not the well-deserved death of a serial rapist.

Wtf is going on there?
Best part is not only did the anime keep the scene 100% intact, but they fucking EXPANDED IT.

Is he..jerking the tube off? This man is GETTING AN ERECTION from feeding someone their own poo.

I can't vouch for the manga, but I can for the anime. I said it before, and I'll say it again. The red flag for me was when they showed the walls of the city being made of titans. I was thoroughly convinced the show would take some ridiculous/convoluted direction from there though I would have never imagined it would be this bad. I can't even fathom how never mind why this is the same story.

Well the Uprising Arc's anime adaptation was heavily controlled by Iseyama and he wanted to change it a lot, fans even speculated Iseyama wanted the shit machine scene to be kept in because of the scene that led to Zackley's death being plot relevant which involved the shit machine.

Ah yes in chapter 110 where he and four other soldiers were killed by it.

The first two parts of Muv Luv were sold together from the start. It's a weird product. Basically, you go through Muv Luv Extra's main two routes (the two girls in the central love triangle), then it unlocks Muv Luv Unlimited. So Unlimited is kinda set up as a "bonus scenario", but it's tonally completely different, is almost completely linear, and is pretty much an entire game unto itself. So they're considered a "trilogy" with Alternative, even though it's technically only two products.

The people involved in making the games had been previously making other games that are loosely connected and tonally similar to Muv Luv Extra; some characters and locations are reused from those games in MLE. I'd assume that, since their preceding work was along the lines of the standard high school romance eroge that were typical of the time, they probably decided they wanted to branch out, and used their resources to put both stories in the same box as a way of hedging their bets.
