Isayama himself said the story had about 5% left, so I took that to mean that there was less than ten left.

Honestly, I just think Isayama is seriously trying to do damage control here, and backtrack like crazy. Not because I think he realizes that being a hateful racist shit is wrong, but that his reputation is gonna fucking tank if he doesn't at least try to pretend that the last part of his series wasn't anything, but a ridiculous, racist, edgy, poorly-written, poorly-drawn revengefic.

Unironically my favorite chapter in forever. People stompin' was good and plentiful. I liked that closeup on the colossals' weird faces, I like that they aren't just Bertholdt clones. That kid dying was sufficiently fucked up and tragic. And most of all annie x armin otp is adorable. "...I don't" was pure unadulterated d'aaaw. Eren is still a crappily written dumbass but what else is new. Also was that an Evangelion ripoff moment there with Ymir showing up like Rei does in episode 1 and the movie? It's gotta be.

Not gonna lie here, this is the best chapter we've had in a long time.

The art is good, action's good, pathos was there, etc. My only real problem with this chapter is Eren suddenly feeling bad about shit. It came right the fuck out of nowhere and feels like a huge fucking cop-out and it creates a bunch of plotholes. It's so out-of-left-field it's why I'm more than slightly suspicious that Isayama finally realized the current backlash about this last arc is increasing and is only going to get worse once season four drops so he's trying to salvage what he can.

Eren's sudden and dramatic change of heart just feels like a last-minute rewrite, and it frankly just makes me even more worried about the way this series is gonna end.

There's always been this sort of thing going on between them. From Annie not killing Armin when she first appeared in her titan form specifically because it was him, and Armin jacking off talking to her crystalized body all the time. Honestly, I don't think Bertholdt's memories are influencing this at all. They've always sort of had a thing for each other.

And yeah, Armin, and really everyone forgot and/or don't care that Annie killed a fuckton of people. Besides Jean, who remembers and still rightfully cares a lot that she and the other guys killed Marco.

But yeah, just Marco. Not even Levi's squad is brought up, or anything. Not even Levi does it, and he was right there. Which is really fucking dumb, because he remembered them just before he got his ass blown up, so I don't why he didn't then. He should at least said something about Petra, considering it's heavily implied he was gonna marry the bitch before Annie snapped her in half like a KitKat bar.

Erin 2 came in from a splinter timeline via PATHs, presumably because everyone in his timeline was written well and beat the shit out of him when he told them about his genocide plans. He has swapped timelines with Erin 1, because this is the only timeline where all of his friends and comrades are dumb enough to not have formed a real plan against him.

I was actually afraid that they would prevent Eren from commiting genocide in an attempt to redeem his character or shit out a twist in which he just wanted to get hate to "unite everyone" like in Code Geass.

Is not that I like the revelation that he is actually 100% a murderous psychopath but at least the manga is not pussying out and I respect that.

Really hope for Isayama to not fuck up the ending, it still has potential.

I disagree, because I think making him sad about the whole thing is pussying out.

If Isayama had stuck to his guns and just made Eren the literal embodiment of hatred, and had him commit his global genocide without a single shred of guilt or remorse, I would've actually been impressed. That would've been an original ending, and the only thing I would've been mad about is how the fuck it got to that point.

Instead, Isayama backed down, and is now obviously trying to retcon all of Eren's character development which has caused a ton of plotholes and comes across as incredibly rushed and as an obvious last-minute change.

Look, I don't like the global genocide ending, at least not in the way we got to it. But it is an ending that could've made sense had Isayama not been a sperg, and not fucked up the whole thing. The one thing that could've at least partially redeemed it was having Eren go full-steam ahead, not giving any fucks, and killing everyone. As I said before, that would've been an original ending, and I would've given Isayama full credit, and respect for it.

But no. Instead, we got the cliched "the villain feels bad about what he's doing (even though he was completely fine with it up until this point), but he's still gonna do it because reasons".

I have read some SERIOUSLY edgelord, trashy manga (Magical Girl Site & Apocalypse) and they both, despite being dark had very happy endings were everyone lives happily ever after. He didn't enjoy it, he felt it was neccessary.

Eren on the other hand is aroused by murder and is a fucktard. One frowny face while he's stomping men, women and children to death doesn't fucking mean shit. How does a monster who has murdered before and killed innocent people, carried out this master genocide plan at the expense of everything and everyone he ever cared about even have a regret? Quite frankly, The ending should be Erin 1 breaking through space time wearing Kamina Glasses..having used the PATH's system to break reality and gain all the ultimate attacks of Shonen..using King's Haki to knock out all the Colossal Titans, Teleporting to Erin 2 with Naruto's Dad's Teleport thing, Stopping time with ZA WAURDO..and Smashing Erin 2 with the United States of Smash.

Not because it would be good, it would be 100% cringe...but if this shit is gonna be stupid and awful, we might as well want it to be stupid and awful and so far over the top that nobody will ever forget it.

He is too shitty a writer to back out of this like maybe him using PATHs to reverse time and shit.

Legit, the only sane reasonable ending to this is to go full on "The Butterfly Effect" Directors Cut and have Erin go back in time and Tell Ymir to go close the pig gate and undo the entire abortion that is this story.

I will in the very least respect The plot if it ends on Erin saying "Oh shit this cycle of revenge and genocide keeps going back and forth, I am going to break it at the start and Undo everything and hope that we exist in the new timeline." Like that is a sensible ending everything that is happened.
