For me it's the audio or bust.

It's not an authentic Chrissy experience without his squeaky falsetto hemming and hawing his way through what ever I'm listening too. The sound of his voice just adds to the surrealism of the experience.

Reading the transcripts is sometimes need though, some of the shit he says you have to double check to believe!

But just the words? Man that's like eating fried chicken without the peanut butter dip!
 
I usually go for the audio first. But whenever I hear audio for the first time I have to read along with the transcript. Its weird.

Chris' voice doesn't bother me so much as his tendency to drone on and on without getting to the point. I make an exception for the father call and alec's calls with him. One of the biggest reliefs I've felt since coming to this site was realizing that I wasn't the only one who listened to the father call on the regular. It was comedy, inspiration, and and exercise into the depths of human failure all wrapped up in one.

But yeah, in general I hate when people don't just get to the point and thats why I could never get very far in the lars' call. Never listened to or read most of the liquid chris saga calls surprisingly. No real reason just haven't had much interest. I'll do that one of these days.
 
Are the Kacey calls even available anymore? I actually thought they were funny (longwinded, but funny) because you could hear Chris interacting with a potential sweetheart. It added a level to his Sweetheart Search that you don't get by just reading emails and watching his videos. I was surprised at how many people hated on Kacey, but to each his own.:squirtle:
The Lars and Alec calls are great, I've commented before about the subtle jabs at Chris that are taken that go way over his head. And I love how in the Lars call Chris tries so hard to be Lars' homeboy. That never fails to put a smile on my face.

Well, Kacey is pretty grating, so a lot of people mostly don't get past that. But y'know, she's really kinda what Chris would end up with if he managed to find a girlfriend/mommy to replace Barb. Instead of his fantasy, his ideal househusband situation, he'd have someone screaming at him and always ordering him around. Pretty much his relationship with Barb. (Or, well, Barb doesn't yell at him that much because he just folds and does what she says in the first place.)

And yeah, Lars and Alec are excellent.
 
Perhaps the Lars call would've been better if stupid Chris wasn't just going through the motions.

Jackie fucked up by not being more involved in the call, but since I believe Jackie was actually performed by a man (I can perform a similar type of female voice, myself), my guess is they didn't want to spoil that for Chris.

I don't mind Kacey in the least, I'm in that minority it seems. Sure, the millions other phone calls don't mean much, but the Father Call, the Liquid and Kacey Call, and what I call the "Kacey Call Finale" definitely hold their place upon higher tiers upon Christory.

No, Jackie was a girl in that call.
 
Usually I have the transcript up while the audio is playing, in case I can't understand what Chris is saying (which happens a lot).

Oh, it's definitely possible. Bluespike barely, if at all, changed his voice in his calls. But yeah, in the Lars call, we reused an actress, so she was slightly upping her voice so as to not be recognized. She sounded a little weird, so I guess that's why you might think she's a male trying to imitate a female.
 
Transcripts first. It's easier for me to read than to listen, especially to Chris! But if a transcript gives me lots of lulz, I will play the video/audio afterward.
 
Most of the Kacey calls that are lost for the moment are actually pretty pointless. The only one I miss is Kacey Call 7 where Kacey calls Chris a pedophile.

Yeah, Kacey is pretty annoying. Most Kacey calls are just her whining.

Just listen to the Alec calls, their pretty good.
 
Kacey was incredibly annoying. I was kinda rooting for Chris listening to some of those calls, and that ain't right. But the father call was brilliant and i still listen to it time to time. Does anyone else think Mr Devoria sounds like Joe from Family Guy, or is it my britishness making me unable to distinguish accents?
 
I'm pretty much deaf, so I listen to the audio with the transcript to follow. Chris's speech impediment and patterns can make it difficult for me to understand him when he gets wound up.
 
I've never been able to tolerate Chris' voice. I always read the transcripts. However, I did watch many of the parody videos and listened to the Emily date recording. Chris' voice is a bit more tolerable in that one as he is too astonished to speak the way he normally does.
 
Chris's voice is funny in the Alec calls. Sounds just like an unassertive Eric Cartman mixed with Pokey Minch.
 
I tend to read the transcripts, partially because Chris' voice is off-putting, partially because it's better to read than actually hear audio (Kacey Call 1, I think is an example). However, if it's comedy, then I will listen. The Father Call is one of my favorites, partially because it's fun hearing Chris getting lectured.

Yeah, even though Chris' voice doesn't necessarily bother me, I can't listen to his singing. Thats a bit much.
