AudioPhiles are full of shit

The DT 770s should be just fine, with dekoni leather earpads on them (it's what I use on my Beyerdynamic TYGR 300 R's).
I've heard the AKG K300/500 closed back series are good too as well, I have the open back K712 Pro's, and they have quite the wide soundstage, but are open backs.
As an odd choice, the Audeze Maxwell's are an apparently good set of wireless $300 closed back planar magnetic headphones, that compete with similar priced wired headphones (can be used wired too, but the dongle connected to a pc is quite good). I believe the soundstage is quite good for being a closed back, the USB-C dongle might work on phones too. I tried it, and while personally I wasn't a fan (not deep enough, even with aftermarket pads; granted I have huge ears), I believe that for most it's a fantastic portable headset for PC users/gamers and audiophiles in general for a PC bound device. Lastly, the boom mic audio quality is quite good, and better than my shit webcam mic that I use from 15 years ago.
I ended up getting the DT770 250ohm, been enjoying it so far, good sound and comfortable, will probably try out some new earcups at some point. Sound stage is very nice as well. I tried the cheap Samson Semi Open-Back headphones a while back just to try out open backs and while they sounded fine they bleed sound too much for me. My thought is once I get to the point where I no longer have to worry about sound bleed I would like to have a nice speaker system rather than headphones.

Reactions: Total Annihilation
People at RuTracker.org tend to restore loud albums, which is to process them in a way to try and undo the damage done by people like Rick Rubin. I have a habit of downloading those but I never did a reliable test to see if I can actually hear the difference, but hey ho, whatever.
Yes. I downloaded from them there and it sounds good. I am very upset to what they have done with the 2015 Remasters of older Scorpions Albums.

They destroyed the dynamics pretty much and the exclusive demo content we never had the chance to obtain is also fucked.
Now, do keep in mind that this is useful when comparing digital copies. In case of vinyl records, the DR metric isn't comparable to the one of the CD Audio, which is best explained on the HydrogenAudio wiki: https://wiki.hydrogenaud.io/index.php?title=Myths_(Vinyl)#Effect_of_vinyl_mastering_on_dynamic_range
I agree vinyl is lower fidelity than CD. The mastering sacrifices bass for example on vinyl. Also I cringe at people spending so many fucking money on vinyl playback equipment despite being completely fine on 300 EURO turntable. Or fetishizing vinyl as better as CD (I say this as a person who also collects vinyl rips.) You have distortion at the end of the A/B side and the most obvious checkmate is that putting a vinyl rip on CD will sound the same.

But I still download vinyl rips for newer albums or albums with bad mastering. I have vinyls for Freedom Call which I subjectively feel they are better.
I also recently got from Soulseek a vinyl rip of the single Whatever by Oasis which is fucked on CD single by loudness and I also feel it sounds better.

Now let's look at a modern "remaster" of this album from 2005: https://dr.loudness-war.info/album/view/167147
Yep, max DR is lower than min DR on the original pressing. Completely destroyed the quality of the recording.
In rare cases, there are good remasters like XRCD2 made by JVC. Japanese seem to have more brain cells that US/Europe.
In general good remasters are done to extremely snobbish, established artists like Pink Floyd.
