I agree with your sentiment, but, if the mentally ill were to lose their rights, then any of your friends/family can falsely label you as crazy, and the men in white will drag you away to the loonybin.

Anyone who has had experience with trying to get guardianship of their seriously mentally ill family member who is a danger to themselves and/or others will tell you that the process is FUBAR. It's tremendously expensive, viewed with suspicion, takes forever and a lot of bullshit paperwork, and the end result is not guaranteed. The laws have simply gone too far and bleeding heart state bureaucrats and court activists have more power than family members. Sure, there are risks for malevolent behavior, those are unavoidable, but they are not widespread and if anything we've learned over the past few decades is that small exceptions cannot be permitted to define the rules for everyone. The state cannot be permitted to replace the authority or care of the family. Right now the mentally ill can refuse to take their meds, refuse therapy, refuse hospitalization. With the State blocking them, families give up and let their mentally ill go feral in the streets where they become society's problem. Or the families watch their loved ones decline further and manage it the best they can until they commit a crime and end up in prison* or die.

Taking away rights and liberty from the insane has its place. It's necessary for the good of society and sometimes it's best for the insane too. I knew a gal who had a serious OCD about food. While her family battled the courts to give them authority over her, to make her take her meds and be hospitalized against her will, she became so malnourished that her organs simply gave out and she died.

Romanticizing mental illness, making it about "consent" and assuming that all families have evil intentions and cannot be trusted is absurd.

*Prisons are not mental hospitals and if we really gave a shit about the mentally ill and their proper care we wouldn't be arresting them to get them off the streets and warehousing them with real criminals.

As of now in Burgerland, I've read that women are more likely to be SA'd while committed, plus, for both sexes they're more likely to be abused as well. Finally, there's incompetent hospitals/facilities that either dump their mental patients outside or allow them to escape. Overall, if society wants the rights' of the mentally impaired to dissipate, then mental health care facilities need to IMPROVE...IMMENSELY.

That's the caveat, how does one determine if the family is stating the truth about a member's supposed illness? I don't have the answer, but, I believe a combination of familial authority and state inspection would be ideal for the mentally ill.

The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department is apparently, an institution held hostage. Yesterday, the New York Post revealed that law enforcement had recently released new information about Audrey Hale’s mindset before she went on a shooting rampage against elementary-aged school children, coming from her own writings:

Now we already knew that Hale held a deep-rooted animosity toward white people, a fact we learned when some of her “manifesto” was published about eight months after the shooting, but the language above just wreaks of the leftist narrative—in this case, the anti-white racism given new life by Barack Obama, and kindled into the raging fire it’s been since.
The same anti-white racism that seemingly just got Austin Metcalf killed at a high school track meet—if you haven’t seen, the official report is out and it matched preliminary information. Karmelo Anthony, the young black man who stabbed Austin Metcalf through the heart, was sitting under a tent shade that was meant for athletes of the school Metcalf attended, and when Metcalf asked Anthony to move, Anthony immediately escalated the situation, daring Metcalf to make him move. When Metcalf did, Anthony plunged a knife into him. No one can convince me that Anthony genuinely believed he was in danger when Metcalf went to move him—rather, Anthony has been told by progressive public school teachers, mainstream society, and Democrats politicians that white people are evil who owe everything they have to the blacks, even their lives.

The state won't do it, the families won't do it either, and at the end, it's us the ones that have to deal with lunatics on the street that can either just throw feces at people or to go fully nuts and shoot at kids. I personally wouldn't want to be at the end of either feces or bullets.

And the thing is, it's easy to recognise someone who's not well when they're outside naked screaming while they throw their poo at you. We lock down those people and tell their families that either they do something or the state will do it. We still have to deal with people like Audrey who aren't acknowledged as mentally ill because it's totally normal to want a penis and believe you're gonna get one and become a man, which proves that it's not just the state or families that are wrong here, but the whole system of mental health is bonkers.

Nashville Covenant School shooter Audrey Hale said she wanted to “kill all the white kids” in over 1,000 pages of newly released diary entries, according to the New York Post.

I just wanna tell you what happened there. We received an exclusive on the Nashville shooter's manifesto from the FBI. We exclusively had permission to report on it, though not to post the documents, and we spent the weekend reviewing the over 1,000 of them.

What we concluded, and it's outlined in Morning Update, which is on YouTube and on our podcast feed, is that we were misled by Nashville authorities last week who said, "Mm, there's not one document called the manifesto, so we're just gonna tell you based on our reading of this- these 1,000 plus documents what the motives here were." And guess what didn't make the dance? The shooter's trans ideology- at all, at all.

So, we read through the documents, and again, we've been misled. This woman was obsessed with trying to trans herself, wanting to trans herself, trans ideology. I mean, it i- it was like reading a leftist playbook on race, gender, and hatred for America. And now it's becoming really clear why this wasn't shared with us for two years.

Ultimately, people shouldn't trust the gov't , no matters who's in control. As of now, leftists still dominate major gov't jobs. The most impactful action a family could do to avoid having another Audrey Hale is to not put their autistic child in a leftist-dominated school(prison) and homeschool their son or daughter. After all, autists are easily suggestible and naive, right?
