It's an ELCA (very leftwing like the Episcopal Church) congregation, not a Lutheran Church -- Missouri Synod or Wisconsin Synod (both much more orthodox and traditional) congregation, so in that light it's not at all surprising. Because representation is way more important than the Gospel.
