If I were of a conspiratorial bent, I would suspect the right of planting agents provocateur amongst the various groups that comprise the left, to get them caught up in shit that alienates potential allies, accomplishes nothing, and ensures they're a laughingstock to people who aren't part of the movement. But that's silly. People can be idiots without any prompting from others, as the existence of this forum is testament to.

It's not stupidity, it's narcissism. Their goal isn't to help people, it's to get attention and virtue points for themselves. It can even be a good thing if hurts the community you claim you want to help since that raises the value of your identity card and makes it more prestigious to be an advocate for that community.

When someone tries to make a humanitarian disaster all about imaginary racism what they're really trying to do is make it all about themselves.
