Well California is the biggest stronghold for liberals in the US and even they voted down gay marriage (it was later enacted by the state court or something)
I can only imagine that Australia will be the same.

Much like the United States, people living in the inner-city overwhelmingly support same-sex marriage while those in the outer suburbs and rural areas are more conservative.

I don't see your point. The good majority of people in California are liberal (Dems tend to get about 66% of the vote in federal elections), but even with those odds gay marriage was voted down.

Old people constitute the largest block of voters. There are a near endless supply of AARP members who are registered Democrats who would not support gay marriage under threat of pain.

Ten years ago most of your big name democrats either weren't willing to publicly support gay marriage or were openly against it. Obama and Hillary only stared supporting gay marriage after public opinion began turning in favor of it.

Obama's election also drew out a lot more black voters than usual, many of them also older and socially conservative. They voted against gay marriage by a wider margin than white voters.

The only thing they can do is pull back and wait the 5 or so years it will take for the SJWs to eat each other a la' the French Revolution and only then can rational discourse hope to return.

Yeah, the guys in charge of the SSM Yes vote are trying to mitigate the damage done by the extremist left guys. They're aware of the optics of this dumb shit, the most obvious being former Prime MinisterTony Abbott being headbutted in Hobart by an anarchist DJ.

I'm still voting yes on SSM but I wish these twats would be less sanctimonious about it.

One of the reasons the postal survey was criticized is because it is thought that baby boomers against same-sex marriage will have a higher turnout than millennials who either "don't know what a mailbox is" or will "throw out their ballot by mistake".

Not just Blacks. Latinos/Hispanics too. For some reason this fact has been swept this under the rug. Probably because all those beautiful crowd shots of racial minorities with tears of joy in their eyes at the election of the Messiah Obama...would have been slightly ruined by the knowledge that many of those same poor oppressed POC didn't want the Faggots to be able to tie the knot.
