Autism is meaningless

Imagine having to teach your stupid kid how emotions work instead of just having a normal child lmao
you'd still have to put in the work to make your kid a functioning member of society regardless of how normal he or she is.

Autistic or not, kids are fucking frustrating creatures that will eat up your time, money and sanity, especially considering that the amount of parenting your kids so that they become huge successes in life is equitable to a 14-hour job, stressful and sometimes depressing.

Yeah, exactly. Why add autism on top of all that shit? It is objectively better to have a non autistic kid.

Bruh, you're not getting out of getting called autistic, op.

Because nobody wants a defective kid.
genetic research for eugenic wouldn't be such a big waste of money if we know what autism is. Contrary to down syndrom autism isn't a true genetic disorder, yeah there a genetic factor, but no distinct ''autism'' gene. Rare genetic anomaly only account for 1% of autism population

Main problem isn't with DSM... it's based on the definition of autism and the lack of said treatment when dealing with it.

Autism as defined is a mental disability which means that you are somehow mentally handicapped to the point where you'll never have a good life, meaning it's similar to down syndrome, awkward brain development and even times where you can lose function in your brain just from having a fatal accident.

Problem is, autistic people can function if given proper treatment; they just function with a different way of processing information. The fact that mental health treatment in the US (with the exception of certain states) is appallingly terrible means that autism will forever be classified similar to you losing the ability to walk, use your arms, use your mouth or even use any function of your body. Which are more debilitating and depressing.

I do get why people complain about autism, I don't get why they put more focus into genetics research and euthanization then in trying to teach autistic people how to function properly.
It's a neurodevelopmental disorder, NOT a mental disability.
Under that category ASD is a separate subcategory, which is termed as a social communication deficit; Down Syndrome is under 'Intellectual Disability', which is termed a mental ability deficits.

Autism is fucking wild because despite having such a wide spectrum of severity corporations and focus groups end up treating high functioning autists as the exact same as the drooling tards that smash their skulls through the wall and look like jontron for some inexplicable reason. The common high functioning autist can be trained the social cues they cannot pick up on naturally overtime. Their brains will still be structured differently from most people, but overall if the right care is taken they'll be pretty much the same as non-autistics in terms of behavior.

Life can be hell for kids with undiagnosed autism, but They can improve if given the proper training and therapy. This has not happened for years now. Instead, they are coddled, told their problems are all because they have autism and cannot be helped. The extent of this shit is far reaching to a fucking horrendous degree. If they're outright evil little shits it can be blamed on "the autism". Due to this, it has created a miniature army of little sociopathic shitbags that use autism as a criticism shield and call it shit like "neurodivergence" for internet clout. Now, these sorts of people have been around for quite some time but they used to be the exception rather than the ever increasing norm.
As with most travesties like this it can probably be tied to thots on social media to some degree. Around nearly a decade or so ago now there were a fuckload of them that claimed to have autism, and would record vlogs of themselves flapping their hands like a fucking toddler for upvotes and social circle cred. Those people never stopped existing, and have all but exploded in number the last 5 years or so. In that sense, autism has completely lost it's meaning.
Something is very wrong with society when you can slap an autism/trans label on someone and instantly get a shield from criticism. People tack it on for diversity points in current year and flaunt it in an almost fetishistic way that absolutely sickens me. Autism should have never become just another badge to add to the sash of "quirky" identities the media elite use like mere accessories.

I used to think autism is related to social interactions and the way the brain processes social knowledge/cognition - something like that. Bring on the clocks, but only recently I discovered this is not neccerily the case at all. It's how different you are or your thought proccesses are or whatever. To me, it's pretty much render it meaningless. It was supposed to be about the social aspect of cognition and thinking, not about everything regards that. We are all processing things differently, we all have different sensor sensitivity, different quirks and preferences, why is that autism?

Brought to you by Jimmy Snow who is "very autistic" according to him, although he has steady girlfriend for two years, had many other partners, has a quite successful channel, had many colabs on his channel and seems like a pretty normal guy overall, who has many obssesions and anxiety apparently, but I don't understand how this makes him "very autistic".

Here a list of everything Jimmy Snow said about how he is an autist:
1. Only wears one type of shoes, otherwise he gets obsessed over the new shoes and how they feel.
2. Only like one font as a type, otherwise obsesses over it.
3. Obsessed over little things and little faults.
4. Have very strong sense of smell, therefore it engages him a lot.
5. View every creative skill he has as a technical skill.
6. Love functional rules.
7. Obsessed with numbers.
8. Dislike most food. Like very few of it, and most of it isn't good for him. Find comfort in eating the same food repeatedly.
9. Replays sounds and phrases over and over in his head. Talking them out loud bring relief, especially if said in a similar sound and accent.
10. Tiny imperfection in tools, instruments, etc. makes him crazy and he obsessed over that.
11. Obsessed with efficiency, including how efficient other people speak. He is impatient with people when they speak and if they don't get to the point fast enough, he tends to zoom out. He knows it's ironic since he himself talks besides the point a lot.
12. If someone use "all of the sudden" around him he compulsively tells them to use "suddenly" instead. It is that level of anal (his words).
13. Prefer to communicate directly and bluntly. Which make other people think he is an asshole.
14. Don't process emotions "the way you do".
15. Don't get subtext. Rarely vague text.
16. Love making people laugh, but mostly love making himself laugh.
17. Obsessed with time management and punctually, but in a weird way, not how usually it's expressed. He explained it like that: He will arrive super early to places or even the night before just so could get some sense of familiarity he won't get stuck on traffic.
18. All of this makes him anxious (no shit, sherlock).
19. Have sensory overload easily.
20. It's why he prefer to be early at night

How this is not obsession-compulsion, anxiety, sensitivity and preferences, and instead is autism? Except from 15, which I presonally doubt how much it is true (but what do I know), everything else isn't really about social preccesing? Maybe except 13 and 11 (but who doesn't zoom out sometimes when people are talking besides the point and get impatient?). It's mostly a lot of obsessions, compulsions and anxiety. Which probably intefere in other aspects of his life, like the social one, but you can say that about pretty much any disorder.

Look, I was obsessive enough to write all this down. Does that makes me autistic now? Seriously, what is autism? I get the sense that many of the poeple who are Autistic the way Jimmy is think "neurotypical" are all hivemind who think in the same way and that there is no such thing as miscommunication. Really, what is autism?

And am I autistic for making this post?

They have taken over the internet already.

They are poised to rule us all, and the downies (who are superhuman strong and immune to consequences) are going to be their muscle.

We don't stand a chance. There will be no place to run. No place to hide. Not even a place to breathe.

We. Are. Fucked.

Yep, I'd think you were more on point with your analysis, than Snow being autistic.

Remember there has been a revival, so to speak, of 'tell me you are autistic without telling me you are autistic'. You only have to look on yt/tt to see it, it's everywhere.

'Autism = how different you are' LMFAO, yeah, no.

That definition is called a fad. Fad being something that a lot of people suddenly start doing (like being 'trans'), that is the 'in' thing at the time. If you don't want to be 'out' you will do everything you can to be 'in'.

A neurological disorder is not something you can control, no matter how much you try, no matter how many therapies you do, no matter how many medications you take. Sure those things can help with your coping mechanisms, in being able to help in your day to day functioning, but ultimately, they will never override the broken parts that just can't be fixed (well not in our lifetimes).

There is no 'everyone is a little autistic/ADHD', I put the ADHD in because more often than not, they go hand in hand (no matter how much people want to deny it). It's not something you switch on and off whenever you feel like, when you are in front of a camera for example. A high-functioning level of autism may mean you can appear to blend in, but if you watch a person for long enough, you'll see where they are different, where they don't exactly fit in the way they are trying so hard to fit.

Females are good at this, because it is something that generations of females have been taught to do, to sit still and be quiet, to only speak when spoken to, to not be rowdy, outspoken. It is the reason why so many females have been diagnosed later in life, in the past 5 or so years. That stands for ADHD too, even more so in it's case, due to the ADHD = boys, hyperactive, etc. assumptions.

Psychology has always been about males, male behaviour, male traits. Females were only ever hypochondriacs, their brains good for nothing but homemaking, they weren't capable of independent thoughts, let alone diagnosing themselves. It is something that unfortunately still exists today, throughout the medical professions.
