Downies are usually welfare leeches so their self interest is to vote for the left. The lefties will also use the downies as a tool to justify more public spending.

I'm just picking a lesser evil. At the very least they're not the autists running for congress.

Downies are usually nice because they're dumb. You usually need some smart people to run a functioning society and autists are usually too spergy to do well in politics and other social activities so they're usually occupied by their personal projects. Any person who is somewhat smart is capable of doing evil and good for the society, but dumb people can't do anything good for the society.
 
I prefer downies. Autists are more "functional" humans, but they tend to be dicks. Downies aren't exactly functional people, but they are generally really nice and just want human interaction.
 
I'd prefer to be around Downies. They may not be able to contribute much, if anything to society, but they're usually sweet, open hearted types who don't/can't try to deliberately hurt you or act like an intentional dick.

Autists can be some of the most insufferable people to talk with. If the conversation isn't always on them or their hobbies/interests and you try talking about something in your life, or a different topic, you usually just get a Chris styled "hmm...yeah" and then back to sperging about whatever. Lot of downright rude autists out there as well, and I get the feeling at times a lot of them use the autism card as a get out of jail free to just be a dick without consequence.
 
Downies. If they’re high functioning enough they are well liked by the student body and treated as an equal. However the only downies I’ve been around were high functioning enough to be in classes with me and not wear diapers.
 
I love having downies work for you. sure, they may not be fast, and you can't give them anything too complex to do, but they will bust thier butts doing whatever job you give them. though sometimes you need to do some work prying them away and getting them to do something else, but you can't say they don't work. most of the ones we get start off as part of the schools work program and tend to stay on after they graduate.

The Genius Autist is a Hollywood myth. Autism doesn't make them smart. It just gives them really good memories, which they promptly waste on stupid shit like trains or cartoons.

Downie's have more natural strength than autism and make up for the lack of "idiot savants" compared to the autists, so I'll choose them in this assumed hypothetical fight between the two.

The existence of downies just makes me sad, they're essentially a failed human organism that will never develop self-awareness to any meaningful degree or even a proper personality. Sure, they can act nicely and a lot of parents genuinely love their tard, but they'll always be treated more like a pet than an individual and I think that's morbid.

Autists come in different varieties but at least a big chunk are capable of introspection, and they make good software.
