So there are 3 cars and a motorcycle here now (my '72 Chevy van, my sweetbolt's 1998 Chrysler Sebring coupe, and a 1999 Kia Sportage & older Yamaha Virago belonging to other roommates), looking to add a pickup truck now too. I'm thinking '71 Ford F250.
'70's were my favorite years for Ford. Suffice to say, I'd never set foot in any Ford made past '96. I'm drawn to older trucks, but I wouldn't mind owning a newer Chevy or Dodge (even if Dodge is just the worst).
This '71 Ford pickup looks pretty good for its age, I got to test-drive it, and it drives good. Owner is not quite ready to let it go yet tho. :(

My family just traded in our 2005 Honda Pilot for a top-of-the-line 2012 Pilot. Super good condition, I think it had maybe 15,000 miles (although I'm not exactly sure). Quite an upgrade for us, definitely the fanciest car we've ever owned. In-dash nav system, backup camera, voice control, auto-adjusting seats and mirrors based on driver presets, stuff like that. The car has a hard drive in it so you only have to put a CD in once, then it saves it to the HDD for later listening. You can use Bluetooth to stream audio from your phone or iPod... I know, this is probably all pretty standard nowadays or whatever, but it's exciting for us :)

I test drove one when we were debating on what kind of car we wanted when our leased van was stolen. It's definitely fancy. Lots of bells and whistles, and feels... I dunno, safe (even if SUV's roll over more frequently than any other vehicle type). Had some really good mileage too, but we settled on the pimp-mobile Suburban posted earlier in this thread.

A Suzuki Alto, its a a cheap piece of shit but at least it's not 10 years old :P its only got 7000 odd miles on it too :D
Other cars on my driveway (though not mine, my parents')
SLK-1_2322774b.jpg

Our posh new car, the Mercedes SLK 250, in that colour too :P. Proper red convertible, black interior with red stitching... I fucking love that car so much).

Nowhere near as exotic or posh, but Cryslers are fucking comfy. The fact that i can lie down and chill along the back seat is fucking awesome. I could live in this beast

I DRIVE A DODGE STRATUS

STEP THE FUCK OFF

Now to see who gets that.

Ooh, I got a shiver seeing that Mercedes SLK 250. :D

I regularly get driven places... As posh as that might sound, I HATE being a passenger. I enjoy driving, and I feel safer when I'm in control, as I have a lot more defensive driving experience than the average jackass. I have a 2011 Volvo XC60 T6 R-Design, which I thoroughly enjoy driving on the weekends, but I still feel the lure of a new Audi performance sedan tugging on my sleeve - maybe an adorable performance coupe to keep it company. The cost is trivial, but I have nowhere to park a second vehicle, and I'd N E V E R dream of abandoning my fabulous Volvo sex express. When I move, a 3 ~ 5 car garage is mandatory. Oh, First World problems, how you vex me!

So... CWCki Forums' view on me buying this '66 Ford Econoline? http://eugene.craigslist.org/cto/3668328079.html

Yanachu and I have both seen it in person, it looks a lot better in person than in the pic (no bigger version available).

Thing is that I don't really need two vans and I'm loath to sell my '72 Chevy G20, which has been with me pretty much forever.

Are you prepared to give children free candy from it while sporting a moustache and blasting the Little River Band?
I do 2 out of 3 of those from my other van. So with this one, I might. I'd have to make visitors park on the street since all allotted parking spaces would be filled if I buy it.

I have a 2004 Nissan xterra with 121,000+ miles on it. Still runs great though.

I had a 2000 ford escort after high school, it only lived six years :/

Son-Chu > your Escort. Except that your Escort didn't rattle constantly and smell like rotten watermelons, hobo stank, Axe and DIRTY CRAPPED BRIEFS.

Son-Chu lived approximately 18 years with no maintenance.

My uncle had one of those Xterras. He gave it to my other uncle because my other uncle is a bum. The same uncle who he gave his Jaguar and Intrepid to.

The only Escort I ever loved was my neighbor's 1984 Escort. It looked like this only shittier:

My parents owned 3 1980s Escort wagons, all in similar color schemes to that, one caught on fire in a church parking lot when I was 9, I totaled one when I was learning to drive, and they still have one, along with two identical Chevy Celebrity Eurosports, one Lancia Zagato that my dad bought as a midlife crisis car and parked outside when the timing belt snapped, and one ex-forest service GMC pickup. Like the Chandlers, they "picked them up because they were a bargain". Seriously, if you were to compare my folks to the Weston side of CWC's family...

I drive a black, 1998 Volvo. It's technically my brother's too.

A forward control van with a three on the tree and single circuit brakes?!? BUY BUY BUY! (I'm just guessing, the craigslist link is dead).

As for me, I own a 1999 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight and a 1987 Mazda B2000. The Olds is my commuter, and the Mazda is for hauling.

I went to look at it, it was pretty rusty and it looked like someone had shed a lot of blood all over the paneling and carpet in the cargo area. It was the 2-speed Fordomatic automatic transmission (copy of a Chevy Powerglide) and did have single-circuit brakes. Bald tires, inline fuses on the Kraco AM/FM/cassette sound system, fan and cigarette lighter, and it looked like a piece of shit that not even a Chandler would drive. Seller was a towing company.

And I accidentally put a ding in the door of a 1990s Ford Escort with my van door earlier today. I thought immediately of what CWC would think if a DANG DIRTY TROLL damaged whatever the current incarnation of Son-Chu is.

And IIRC, Bill had a late 60s International pickup until Luanne's mom stole it.

I'd rather say it was early 70's.

...I think.

And those things were the bomb. I was just looking up videos of them a few days ago because I love them so much. The early 70's were pretty great for IH.

Bought it new in late '89. '90 model year. Coming up through 182K miles.

While in Santa Monica, I once went 202 days with the top down, only putting it up to wash the car. (I didn't buy it to drive with the top up.)

Thing just runs and runs and runs, and I laugh my ass off up every onramp. I've been through a couple of clutches but I'm still on the original brake rotors. I had to fix it for the first time at 66,000 miles when the spark plug wires went out.

I think you're right. It was about a 1971, tan, might have had the woodgrain side applique, now that I think about it. I should know my IH bodystyles since I have a Johnny Lightning model of the 1964-69 bodystyle IH pickup on my desk.

The early 70s were a great time for IH. Shame that the US government ordered them out of light-truck production after the 1973 oil embargo and they couldn't survive only on the Scout. (same reason that Dodge was forced out of bus, medium/heavy duty truck and RV chassis production and GMC had to sell their RTS bus business off and had everything else but light truck and rebadged Isuzu NPR production sold off to White, except that those were ordered after the 1979 embargo).
