All aspects except story and feeling like a fucking Star Wars product.
Yes, that's precisely what I mean. They took the formula, gameplay, systems that bioware created and made it slightly less janky (not saying much, name a good playing bioware game). What made Kotor special, specifically the story and characters, were all missing. I can't even remember a single thing from KotorII.
This repeats itself through their whole catalog. It's not that they are bad, it's just they are mediocre and devoid of originality.
New Vegas is an evolution of FO3. And while FO3 is kind of unique (it's still oblivion with guns and fallouts motiff) its still a Bethesda game, which means it's a barely functioning. New Vegas slightly improves the gameplay, but does nothing much on top of that. Obsidian getting their flowers for NV is ridiculous, it's still clearly a Bethesda game.
As I said, I think Stick of Truth is really their only game they can point at and say they made a "hit". They still ride the coat-tails of it being South Park, and because the tone, art, characters, etc is all decided for them, but they actually made a game that isn't just a 1 for 1 copy.
Say what you will about Bethesda, at least their games are original garbage. Oblivion belongs to them, so when they make space oblivion, or Skyrim oblivion, or 50s sci fi oblivion, that game belongs to the studio, they own it.
Obsidian has been shitting out other studios games and claiming them as their own their entire existence. Stick of Truth is the only game that is their own, except the IP doesn't belong to them, so what does that leave?
