I think he just enjoys the mechanical aspects of Bethesda style games especially where you level skills by doing them. He keeps talking about survival crafting games filling the niche those RPGs used to. He got the appeal of the genre backwards if you ask me.

Imagine having a mental breakdown over Avowed of all games. Even more pathetic than WAB breakdown since at least KCD2 had more hype and more people looking forward to it than this. Trying to sweep for Vavra because you liked the first game or even because you worshiped that man for over 20 years like it was the case for Mack is understandable, Patrician didn't even like Outer Worlds and I've never heard him talk about Pillars of Eternity(I thought he didn't like isometric CRPGs?). Played a bit more today. What the fuck is up with the level scalling in this game? The main quest so far have you help 3 animencers and the first 2 are just easy busy work. The last one has me run into a gauntlet with 2/3 skull enemies everywhere kicking my ass. Tried to run past the enimes and grab the quest item but the boss locks you out and you forced to fight a wave of enemies. Fighting an enemy with one skull is annoying enough since you dont know if your attacks even stun them, so alot of times They just eat your attacks and punch you back without time to react.

Its like the game is screaming at you "time to do some side quest and explore the ENTIRE area buddy". god damn.

Over the past day, I've gotten ads for Avowed Premium Edition as notification pop-ups on multiple Windows machines that I've used for years and never gotten ads pushed like this before on. I've now disabled the setting that allowed it to happen, but it never needed to be disabled before because nothing ever got pushed like that.

Far more often than not a shit game is also woke, to the point the political allegiance of the developers can be seen as causation for the game actually being bad.

And it really makes sense when you think about it. A company with leftists in charge will not hire the best people for the job (who, 99% of the time are going to be a White or East Asian, heterosexual men), but whichever human detritus best aligns with their arcane and undecipherable race/sex/gender quotas.

And it only goes downhill from there - these people they hire hate games, hate gamers, have no idea what makes a good game nor do they particularly care. What they do care is rubbing their ability to ruin a beloved franchise into the faces of the fanbase, delighting in the sociopathic activity of causing emotional grief to the unpersons.

Since the wokies are too busy "dunking" on random strangers online, very little time is devoted to the actual development of the game. Not that they could actually make the game even if they wanted to, mind you, since nearly all of them lack the necessary skills and talent.

What this means is endless delays and bloating budgets, and contractors - lots and lots of jeet contractors.

Ultimately, the end product is a project managed by people that hate the medium and the audience, and being made by low IQ jeets that could give less of a shit about the quality of their contributions.

You can apply this same pattern to every other medium in the West - books, comics, movies, TV shows etc.
