Back 4 Blood - Left 4 Dead's spiritual successor

Is it still the same team as back then? If the answer is yes I'm gonna hang myself but this feels like a fan game that got redone halfway through
I'd say an almost 0% chance. There's probably not a single person in any sort of executive position who's been there that long.

Apparently the B4B in the beta stage at the moment is pretty low quality

Why exactly could Turtle Rock not just make a Left 4 Dead 3? What's the story there with their relationship to Valve?

While obviously we weren't left hanging as bad as with Half-Life, I still wonder what became of Left 4 Dead's world and it's characters, I know there was a comic book that showed that the surviving characters from 1 just took refuge on an island somewhere, but we have no idea what happened to the cast of 2, the whole plot element of the survivors being "carriers" definitely seems like it was meant to go somewhere.

There's just so much wasted potential with video games that it just boggles the mind, again I have to ask, why are things so bad?

The Beta is fun, but it's definitely not $60 worth of fun and it's definitely not something I'm playing alone with the retarded bots or with randoms. I'm really hoping it'll get some support after launch because I can only do so many Expert Realism campaign races with my friend before I start to get bored of L4D again

ShillManLives has his take:

I kind of like this guy, but his ads are always cancer.

-30 second unskippable ad at beginning

-Two or three 15 second ads throughout

-5 minute shilling of product I'll never buy

-30 second ad at ending

Like wtf I just want to hear a lukewarm opinion on a game I don't care about.

Every time I'm tempted to unsub from him he comes with a good video. I just use an ad blocker and skip any ad reads. Getting tired of his constant your mom jokes, though.

The past few years have had me in a cycle of:

- Playing decade old games still.
-Hearing news of sequel or spiritual successor of said decade old games.
-Casually follows the development of said games.
-Warning signs it'll be shit or mediocre float up from the news.
-Game comes out shit or mediocre.
-Quickly forget it even existed and goes back to playing the original decade old games again.

That's just how it is in the modern AAA industry I guess.

Mack from Worth-a-Buy didn't like the beta.

From how I've heard it told, L4D was a total mess. Turtle Rock can't make L4D3 cause they sold all rights with the first one to Valve. Valve cleaned it up enough to get it out the door, but immediately rebuilt it from the ground up in to L4D2, later porting the original all into it.

That's why L4D2 came out so soon after 1. One was a sloppy pile of code, and two was essentially the game concept rebuilt by Valve.

So I've been whelmed this whole time hearing that the people that couldn't make the first one are trying again.

eh, most I've read about it was just office politics and business decisions, nothing about it's state. besides, l4d2 has it's fair share of issues and depending who you ask worse gameplay.

turtlerock gets a lot of shit, especially after evolve, but a lot of that is rewriting history by people who haven't even played it or were to smoothbrained for it (that doesn't mean it was a game for intellectuals, but player competence and intelligence has dropped off a fucking cliff). it was a good game at it's core where they simply fumbled the execution, in part due to factors outside their control (like getting picked up by 2k). that's no excuse for b4b, but when you go after an established "classic" you better stick the landing.

besides, they could've just re-tooled evovle into a l4d clone that isn't re-hashing the outdated zombie trope (not many scifi l4d clones out there) and asymmetric pvp was always a smaller demographic then pve, but that's just me.
