Has anyone ever given you bad directions? Did you ever get where you were trying to go? How long did it take? And when you no doubt confronted the douche who gave you the bad directions, what happened?
~
My worst experience with this was that myself and a friend were asked to spend a day with some mutual friends at the lake. They loved to go camping (first red flag) and figured it would be fun to spend the day on the lake in their boat (second red flag.) Friend and I were told a main road to take there and that the only right turn was the one we needed to take and that we couldn't miss it. This was before texting was as common as it is now so we were told that when we got there to ask someone at the main gate where their campsite was (third red flag.) I asked how long it would take to get there and I'm told "If you it major traffic, which I don't expect, maybe 45 minutes at the most."
Friend and I set out that morning and we drive...and drive and drive and drive. There is traffic but it wasn't gridlocked at any point so we never had to slow down and drove the speed limit the whole way. Over two hours later, we see the turn and get out of the car to ask where the people's campsite was...and they were not registered to camp there. We try everything to figure out this mystery and are eventually told that there is another campsite a few miles up the road and maybe that's where they are. Another half an hour later we get to where our friends are and everyone is completely trashed well before noon. Friend and I are extremely pissed at this point and if we hadn't driven so far might have just left but we figured the day would get better. Nope.
It was pretty uneventful except for our confrontation of the friend who gave us the bad directions. We tell him how long it took to get there and he is very drunk and doesn't really care or understand why we were upset. We asked why he told us it would only take 45 minutes and that there were two campsites and he said he forgot and wasn't thinking straight because he was drunk when he gave the directions. So the guy had just stayed wasted from the time he invited us to the next day. We were so angry the entire day sucked.
