he'll walk into the plastic surgery clinic and say "give me the full bogdanoff look"

This is actually surprising. A combined total of around 2 million proceedures is a lot, but you have to realize that America has 329.5 Million people (as of 2020). A lot of these are probably being done by the same people as well, sometimes you go under for more than one surgery at a time. Rounding the numbers to 2/330million ends up being around .6% of the population.

I'm surprised, but not disappointed. I hope it stays low, I like people not going under the knife for unnecessary things and becoming at peace with themselves. :)

Natural size models have gained popularity, especially due to how awful diet culture is there.
Good - girls and guys deserve to feel naturally beautiful. Fuck the police, be natural sized, dammit. Semper Fi to all armed culture rebels and a hearty feels for those stuck in the cycle of abusive diets. :semperfidelis:

CurlyHairJames is not yet satisfied with his plastic surgery journey. Here are two morphs he made of what he could look like in the future
Jesus, he's going full Bogan. I guess with their passing someone has to fill the role.

I once heard that there was a study conducted in the United States on body image and plus sized models. It found that looking at plus sized models was actually more harmful to the average woman's self esteem than looking and the standard models. My guess is that when women look at normal models, they can dismiss them as "anorexic" or "she's just skinnier than me," but they can't do the same when they look at a woman who is a similar weight as them but still looks better. (Of course "plus sized" must mean something very different between South Korea and the USA. )

Also throw in aspirational. What the hell is there to aspire to in your average Unilever Corp. ad? And think about how many brands Unilever owns--and how much they pander to the Ryan Hooves crowd.

Only thing you could aspire to is getting a hold of a rogue bottle of ipecac and pulling a Karen Carpenter.

Plus size models (who are usually between US sizes 6-10) also always wear padding to make them look disproportionately hourglass shaped.

Plastic surgery is big in SK to the point where getting little things (like double eyelids) are pretty common. Wealthier parents even "gift" their daughters those things and nose jobs before they enter college as a way to help them meet potential partners/ get jobs faster. The working culture there is big on appearance and when you go by certain businesses there, bosses put all the attractive employees up front.
I don't want to get all /pol/tardy (aw hell, yes I do) but imagine being a country so ashamed of your own ugliness that you go under the knife en masse, they hate being shitskins, they hate their own eyes, they hate their broad, float faces and noses, just do yourself a favor and breed out the ugly for good. I bet Korean culture is pretty fucked because they're double-fucked by China and Japan who they REEEE to distinguish themselves from, and got broken in half by the USA. Sorry, Korean kiwis.

To be fair I'm sure at least some of these videos are fake. Find a video with pretty filtered people dancing, then do the same dance yourself while in similar clothes and have someone else record it and there's your content.

The sadder ones are the members of the industry bootcamps. The girls that couldn't get starved down enough (or too much) are kicked out and the boys are often just ditched out to either go back to school/ civil service exams or just go right to their mandatory military service. Those camps are brutal and often are middle aged men creating irl sex dolls. They get plastic surgery, always eyelids first.

Power level here
I'm a white person that is in a relationship with a Korean and the culture shock with how appearance heavy it is there is almost uncanny valley. Skin bleaching is common there and its pretty common for mothers to smother their daughters in sunscreen/ skim bleaching cream (that's usually bs or damaging).

In recent years (especially with surgery tourism) an actual body positivity movement has been starting. It's not the landwhales/ deathfats that are all over tumblr but figures starting to speak out more about natural beauty.

Natural size models have gained popularity, especially due to how awful diet culture is there. Crash diets that promote 700-1000cal daily intakes are big and promoted in idol bootcamps. The ideal body type in kpop media is considered to be extremely underweight and eating disorders are common and even encouraged to keep them thin. Once they become skellys, they are no longer considered pretty snd kicked out to go starve themselves in their parent's home.

Arya is a very popular natural size model that promotes healthy lifestyles and often talks about how women should be able to be comfortable with their bodies changing at different times in their life. She's only 5'1 and is open about her weight being in the healthy category rather than underweight. Arya also talks about how when she originally signed on as a model, the agency wanted to promote her as "plus size" at 125 lbs

This is the exact pic illustrating what dear leader means, when he tells when chink women looks like pugs.
he's not unlike the guy "Oli London" who's had surgery to turn himself Korean
Well, it's Rosè London now https://kiwifarms.net/threads/oli-london-rose-london.94486/

On YMH Tom Segura had a pretty good idea. Have the hot models out front and center on the website showing off the clothes, they're the default so to say. When you click on the item and switch it to your size you get realistic models of that size modeling the item. There will no longer be the ideal hot skinny male or female model after clicking XXXL, the pictures will be realistic. Then go "ugh" when realizing what that particular thing would look on you. Or buy it, but you will know before clicking "add to cart".

I wonder how much of an impact using underweight models has on clothing returns, especially once broken down by size. I imagine a lot of consumers would return clothes that don't have a flattering cut or fit on a normal or plus size person but look good in heavily filtered product photos on a walking clothes hanger. Using more normal size models or having different photos available (size 00, average, plus size) may reduce the number of sales but might have a positive impact on the bottom line by reducing the number of returns the store has to cut as a loss. This might be some worthwhile analytics for online retailers to do.

I'm not American but having realistic photos from the back when choosing a size might prevent super-fats with ROLLS on their ASS from buying yoga pants.

Having ultra-gunts hiked up to their nipples/navel to off the new jeans won't make me, as a not-ultra gunt, interested in that product. There's nothing wrong with showing off the ideal and most visually attractive version of a product as advertisment, all burger places do that and death-fats have no problem with it. Pale smashed burger with barely mature lettuce, no problem.
On the flip-side I see the hot skinny female model showing off her tiny tight jeans-ass as I walk into H&M and I don't except walking out looking like that with new jeans and my dick and balls in a doggy bag.

these "plus size" models are often photoshopped to a ridiculous degree, so they appear to have an extreme hourglass figure as well as tight and smooth skin, all while being 300 pounds. shit's ridiculous, any real woman at that weight will just be a shapeless ball of lard with flabby cellulite skin, so yeah i can see this discrepancy causing some body image issues

Iirc they also pad the plus size models so they have that hourglass figure.

Gotta love how the superfat models always have tiny wrists and ankles, as well.

Just look at Tess Holiday! She recently even announced that her anorexia has come back . It must be all those thin models...

She could also be here after all the filler she has in her lips. They are practically circles in the middle of her face these days.
