Keenspot is still technically up, but only as store front for buying some of the digital/print collections of the last hold outs (that I'm presuming signed distribution agreements). There is no link farm to the decaying ruins of what used to be the golden age of webcomics, but looks like the last holdouts are still up, just with no SSL certs.

Comic Genesis (nee KeenSpace) is still accessible but the SSL cert has expired. Tell your browser to not give a shit about that, and it works fine for me if a little jank because I'm assuming SSL issues.

Follow up to this:
SSL certs are still broken but Comic Genesis landing page is now working, and so are the various comics linked from it.

Insomnia struck last night so I went to see if the Internet had managed to recover John Campbell's work so I could post this:

But to my surprise, the long dead site is revived and Campbell has decided maybe capitalism is okay afterall:

Yeah I can now access some of the comics. Guess it's time to start archiving. Which will be fun because some of these have more than 1000 pages and half of them are filler.

I always forget about Pictures for Sad Children and any time it's brought up, the Kickstarter where he lost his mind usually overwrites whatever I know about the comic. I remember a ghost and some weird punchlines like the one above. So I guess him going nuts wasn't as surprising as some people thought it was at the time.

Frankly, I could tell that he was a mentally-ill freak even when he was popular and was just a talentless hack being pushed by his other cartoonist friends, but I thought he'd just kill himself or disappear. This was before I'd learned how much the trans cult preys and eggs on the mentally ill.

Apparently he's going by Simone Veil now. Here's an ass-kissing article about him (archive). It's long. I don't know if he intentionally stole the name from a famous Holocaust survivor and feminist politician, but knowing trannies he probably did.

ETA: Found his gofundme. Back in March of last year he was renting an apartment in Berkeley.

It's probably Oakland since Berkeley's street signs are brown and there are no streets that begin with the numeral 4 in Berkeley (Fourth street is always spelled out as far as I know). Oakland has green street signs and a 40th-49th street though.

I mean the comic itself is 1,000 pages of nihilism but his sense of timing and dry humor brought a lot of attention. Plus nihilism among Millennials wasn't outed for being a retarded worldview yet. It was just the mood around the GFC. Most of us were too young to even know that this was a fleshed out philosophy appealing to us at the time. But yeah pretty much every cartoonist who made depression their bit trooned out in the end. I still think the comic is funny, if nothing else then because the SocJus censorship wave hadn't begun yet so he was free to satirize any sacred cow he felt like but he wasn't particularly mean or spiteful about it.

When a country is headed downhill guys like John end up unintentionally clairvoyant since they expect the worst and the worst is on its way. Eg. He would reference this kind of shit long before most of us even knew it was a thing and well before it had hit American shores. Pre-ASMR. Pre-Vtuber. Pre-eThots in general.

He also trooned out when the transcraze was fresh on the scene and no one was sick of it yet. I don't think it was his intent - but at the time transitioning could wash away any sin. 'He did that because he was hurting, but now he's a she and will be a perfect lady from here on out.' John occupies a special nook in my head for burning those books: one of the first chinks in the armor of socialist rhetoric that even my young, smooth brain could comprehend.

Peach lady has been mocked to hell and back because of her negative self awareness. When her past was dug up it turns out she is a yoga instructor (basically, a mix tape rapper but for women) and her husband worked 2 jobs, paid for the house, paid the bills and still had time to pick the kids up from school and do chores on the weekend.

She is a thoroughbred narcissist, which is why her ego was unscathed when the whole internet was laughing at her.
This is why I wanted to drop my 2 cents on her webcomics: she's Joan Crawford. Now she's jealous of her 8 year old, just imagine what will happen when she's 15 and starts dating. I can bet your ass she will do the whole routine of probing her daughter until she blows up and then ground her and complain what an ungrateful brat she has raised, "You look tired, dear, try some make-up"; "Are you sure you fit in those jeans?"; "I just don't see you dating anyone" and when she's with a boy, "I think you're too young to be dating" etc, etc.

You can just picture her chipping away at her daughter's self esteem just because she can. Otherwise, why would she make a comic, with her full name talking about her daughter's body?

I kind of hate calling Tats's comics "bad" webcomics. They're absolutely deranged at this point, but he's actually a skilled cartoonist with a distinctive and compelling style, and sometimes makes good points. If I see a Tats cartoon (and they are immediately identifiable), I will at least look to see what he's saying, even if it's absolutely insane.

He's kind of like Wormwood and Stonetoss in that I think at least part of their political ideology is utterly insane, but they have a great grasp of the panel comics and often have actual points.

He has the character design issues characteristic of many older-generation north american artists and to me, even a small amount of that is so jarring I would hesitate to refer to many guys like him as "some of the best".
IDK I know I've made the Dave Sim:Sam Logan comparison before, but Logan's simple ultra-cartoony characters have a matching background, and I don't know why it took until 2005 to see American pen-and-paper-4-panel guys to even begin moving away from nasty looking newspaper shit.

I completely agree, but also he's absolutely insane and just not worth a dedicated thread. So I don't think there is a better venue for "Here's what crazy shit Tats is upto now" than this thread.
