Whomp has been doomed for a while now. The last break was because a girl dumped Ronnie (the real one) and I don't even think she was his girlfriend, just some vtuber who appointed him to chat janny and he genuinely thought he had a shot with her. He's fatter, balder and regressed into drawing himself a girlfriend, something he tried the first time (that's what Agrias was) and was mocked for it.

Also because it's relevant, Scott was active on Discord but he was discussing health problems of a serious nature. He's been radio silent for a while now. I really hope he just found a wife who won't leave him instead of the more morbid assumption.
 
So I recently read all of Hello from Halo Head and man... is it really that difficult to write likeable characters? Chloe and Mars are insufferable, their rudeness is NOT charming, and Achilles constantly sexually harassed Mars... like there's no other way to describe it.... she was uncomfortable and avoided him because he wouldn't fucking stop. Am I really intended to like and care about these characters? They could all die and I wouldn't give a fuck.

Looking back, the comic picked up the majority of its fans in the year or two period when Chloe was barely in it. Batshaped is like SaltandPepperbunny in that she should just write all her characters as unsympathetic as possible because it just makes the audience like them (Kai, maybe Niko).

The character who's supposed to be an unlikeable shrew ends up being the most sympathetic one by default for having to deal with these retards every day.

The idea that girls go for jerks isn't just an incel cope, there are definitely girls who then grow up to be women who somehow believe that being an inconsiderate asshole is the coolest character trait ever.

The conservative idea that grandparents should not help raise children at all. I know that leftists idolize the "multi-generational families" of non-whites and all, but white people (even conservative white people!) don't expect that parents raise their children in isolation. The Babysitters Club wasn't set in some far-left commune, it was a small suburb of Connecticut in the 80s. Conservatives aren't inveighing against sleepovers. The nuclear family means that the parents and children form the nucleus, not that there is nothing orbiting around it.

Thank you!! Was gonna say this myself; the whole "it takes a village" thing isn't a new concept. Even in conservative circles it's 100% normal to have family friends, "aunts" and "uncles" (the parents' friends and probably also their kids,) extended family, and even babysitters as part of a community to help raise children. The only point I'd really give to the shitlibs is that before the baby boom, it was more normal to live in multigenerational homes. Then the boomers had so much wealth they had no idea what to do with it, everyone moved out as soon as humanly possible and got their own house, grandparents were put in homes instead of cared for in-home, it broke down home life into 2 parents + kids and nobody else...on the regular, this is where the shitlibs get wrong again, because even in that atomized nuclear lifestyle people still made effort to spend time with one another. Friends, family, neighbors dropping by unexpectedly, planned nights for the parents to play cards together, etc. It all got bungled somewhere in the 90s when the Internet became a thing and everyone spent all their time socializing online and nothing else.
It's very recent for us to be so alone all the time, and it isn't capitalism or monogamy's fault (lmao what), it's just the advent of technology and our ever-increasing isolationist culture where it's weird to drop in on people, weird to talk to your parents, weird to talk on the phone, so on and so forth. Somehow we've created this anxiety rule where nobody is allowed to talk to anybody else unless it's an emergency, and the person who does talk is an asshole begging for emotional labor or some shit.
 
Has anyone read Dog Haus? I wanted to make a more in depth post about it but I'm catching up from last year and it's so tedious to get through that I don't know when I'll be done. Where I'm at right now isn't even following the plot, just one off boomer humor strips.

To add to this, I believe the biggest irony is that even with all this most people are as nosey as tehy ever been. They care more about what the stranger across the country is doing than the family in the same state/city.

I have. I kept up with it for one arc I found annoying and stuck with it as its part of the routine. There isn't much to say as it's generic lefty angsty college LGBT slop. Nothing you haven't seen before!

The worst arc was about the selfish main dog Maggie having a meltdown over having to actually go to college and pick a major. After sitting at home and laying in bed for a month, she gets yelled at by her mom who gets painted as a villian. Well her mom is completely correct and just points out how she has been given every opportunity but just pisses it away and refuses to improve. The arc concludes with Maggie being vindicated by a stranger after hitch hiking and going on a gap semester (where she currently just works at club getting high, proving her mom right). I can do a better write up with pictures if interested, but its been awhile since I read that section.

You see a lot of that mentality in the comic, annoying behaviour being seen as just normal and that what people need is hugs and cuddles to overcome their bullshit rather than actions.

The current arc is the chink dog realising he's a homosexual and being disgusted at himself. Some drag queens make him feel better about it though.

Yeah I just got to the latest comic. I thought he had already been established as a queer. The part where Maggie and her mom are arguing is the worst. I couldn't believe the reader is meant to sympathize with Maggie. Her parents are first introduced like this (sorry if the quality isn't the best, I'm phonefagging and got these off webtoon.)

This is where I genuinely couldn't believe we're supposed to sympathize with Maggie. The family is in debt, on top of paying for both daughters to go to college, which Maggie is squandering, and she doesn't even have a fucking job, so they're entirely paying for her loser lifestyle. It's not a threat when they're FUNDING YOUR LIFE. GET A FUCKING JOB! Maggie is a leech on everyone around her BUTTTT she's just a heckin KID!

Mom comes in to try and smooth things over because she sees her daughter is upset. This makes her the bad guy btw.

Mom explains the situation more gently while Maggie tunes her out. Then Maggie whines about how the cycle repeats... bitch, that's YOUR FAULT. Mom is trying to get you to do literally anything, you're the one digging your heels in.

Thankfully her other bum ass high school friends coddle her before she goes back to waste time and money doing nothing at college. Maggie keeps talking about her moms mood swings like she's bipolar but her mom was depicted very realistically, as a clearly stressed out mother worried about finances and her daughters future. I think everyone has had a conversation with their mom just like this at one point in their life. And what the fat dog says in the 3rd panel doesn't make sense... there are expectations when SOMEONE IS PAYING FOR YOU. And Maggie isn't doing her own thing, she's doing NOTHING and is miserable and anxious because of that, and taking anti depressants (of course). She really lives a privileged life and doesn't even see it.

If I wanted a Mature series about Talking Dogs, I got the comic Series "Stray Dogs" to read. Ig any of you don't know, Its a horror comic series where Dogs are taken to a home by some sketchy man who is a incel. It does has a main female lead but she isn't annoying nor abnoxious as Maggie from Doghaus.
