Bad webcomics

But with how the series treats Linda (the woman who stole Candi's selfish boyfriend) while Alex the continuelly cheating boyfriend got a slap on the wrist shows that Starline wasn't over it.
  • The writing is overall boring after you read the later chapters.

In addition to your above points, Candi suffered from a tonal shift at some point where it went from the sort of a joke punchline-a-day wacky zany college problems solved by random plot shit to srs bidness people dealing with real issues with serious consequences that happens with most comics. Which was something of a shame as Starline was doing a decent job of creating characters with conflicts, she just didn't seem to really know what to do with them or how to change from having literal flying psychic ferrets to having characters who have to deal with the FOMO by not slutting it up through college when they find someone they might want to commit to.

Oh and don't forget Linda (the Other Woman stand in) wasn't just a total bitch, she was FAT and a slut too!
 
Yeah, I used to read Candi. God knows why, but it's one I'd check regularly. It just devolved into a mess and Starline kind of gave up on it. I always thought it was weird how her self-insert was a wacky mix of ethnicity and still looked white with bright pink hair, while Starline herself was just plain old black. If that were the other way around, she'd get roasted in today's SJW Woke Twitter sphere. In fact she would, anyway. A lot of anime influence, I guess, beyond just the hair colors (pink, blue, dark green) the characters have. And some of the stuff like magic ferrets and squirrel mafia and the Sexy Police never fit well with the rest of it. To her credit, she wanted to move on from college stuff, had a second comic, and worked as an actual real illustrator.

When it comes the Linda, there's a lot of hypocracy of Starline's part. Linda's stolen boyfriend who is also a cheating, selfish jerk who dumped Candi on the night she was almost burnt alive is given a slap on the wrist and his serial cheating isn't even punished and were given an excuse why he does it (his bitchy, sociopath grandma encourages it). Linda gets bullied out of her dorm complex by Candi's friends, gets a you suck speech from Starline's comic stand-in, her cheating is portrayed as bad (and the guy she cheated with is portrayed as an innocent victim), her relationship with Alex is in constant attempts to be destroyed, etc.

And let's not get started on the crap Laura-the-"sexy"-slut pulls or Jessie's betrayal of her boyfriend . Yep, this comic is full of horrible people (or just immature if they're Katia) who deserve a visit from the slasher movie villian of your choice.

I can tell you why: It started out it was just fun and took no more than a couple minutes of your day - a junk food comic. It was also on Keenspot, so when you went to go check the rest of the gold-to-silver-age line up, it was just another tab browser window. By the time the comic tried to shift into srs college drama, you were hooked enough on the storylines to want to see how they'd resolve.
(Also her second comic never got very far and was sort of ass. Art didn't improve that's for sure.)

I do sort of wish there was enough activity to support a thread divide up the "hiliariously & horrifically bad" and the "Just not GOOD".

I think some the hypocrisy was part of the draw: you were waiting for Candi (& the rest) to realize it and unfuck herself. At the end of the run Linda seemed to be on the way to some rehabilitation and Candi was being less of a bitch to her.
I'd say that honestly the comic needed a reboot to better reflect the srs drama guise shift about midway through, but at the same time ... there wasn't anything really unique or special about it, and probably wouldn't have been worth the effort to try to save.

Don't have the time to do a deep dive on it, but from what I remember it's essentially autistic Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy fanfic that implies that Mandy did 9/11 and involves a lot of fucked-up, clearly-supposed-to-be-erotic art of kids. Oh, and is about incest between Grim and Mandy's kids (don't ask me how that makes logical or biological sense).

Despite that weird shit, Maxwell Atoms (Grim Tales creator) actually reached out to him before to try and commission him, but Bleedman had too much on his plate (!?). This was from an AMA:

CN even considered him for FusionFall, but the people in charge thought that was a bit too much. (Understandable.)

Kinda funny for him to tell the creator of the source material he's using for his comic that he's too busy working on his own shit to collaborate with him. I can't even imagine what his priorities were. It's a big deal when creators reach out favorably to a fanwork creator, especially one that most would probably try to ignore or shut down.
