Concerning the pets, I'd assume they escaped, cats have a talent for getting out of situations unscathed against all odds. It's very likely some of them already had been gone missing, either by being run over or being consumed by the hoard (that's actually part of what makes me shudder the most, to think about some pile of barbage on top of some poor cat's remains)

It's kinda weird, we never really heard Chris say anything about the cats after the fire. I also wonder if he'd miss the new dogs as he would miss Patti, but it just doesn't look like he's actually that fond of them...

According to the cwcki, the dogs and one of the cats definitely survived, two had already died/gone missing before the fire and two are unaccounted for. I think the new dogs are Barb's, whereas Patti was specifically Chris' dog, whjich may be why we heard more about Patti than we do about Clover and Snoopy. Interestingly, there is a phenomenon known as animal hoarding, where a person compulsively acquires more animals than they can care for - given that the cats certainly aren't house trained, and given Barb's hoarding tendencies in general, I'm pretty sure that's the deal with the Chandler menagerie.
 
Animal Hoarders are the worst kind of people, thank god Barb is more into the craploads-of-Goodwill variety of Hoarding... At least that mainly affects herself and her bumbling son.
 
Kinda veering off topic. I think there are existing threads to talk about the pets and hoarding? I don't know, search for them.
