Remember when this fat old bitch was younger and literally prostituted herself for tickets? Well now she is old and angry:

"The five Tampa Bay Rays players who refused to wear the gay pride logo on their uniforms because of their religious beliefs are “bigots,” says ESPN commentator Sarah Spain."

For evidence of her whoring:

Minor Phillies/Baseball/Sports gripe.... It's nice as Phillies fan that they've gone on to have a mini win streak since canning Girardi, but whenever this type of thing happens to any team that gets rid of their coach (they get their collective heads out of their asses and start to play well)... why the fuck couldn't you have played this hard under the former coach. I understand there are other variables involved, but It always irks me a bit.

It's just a sports thing in general at this point (as you said right at the beginning). It's a notoriously endemic part of football (soccer). Teams up and down every country do it to get rid of their managers. Half-ass your effort and get the person in charge you don't like for whatever reason out.

I think it comes back to the fact that the genie seemingly can't get put back into the bottle and we were inevitably going to end up at this point because of how much player power has crept into sports through mega-money contracts, which innately brings about player power.

Who are the owners going to get rid of: the guy who they signed to a guaranteed 5 year contract for $120m that the player will under no circumstance be willing to break because they're not obligated to, and who also puts butts in seats and brings in revenue - or the skipper making a fraction of what your players are making and who you can terminate their contract for a small compensation fee to keep your prima donnas happy?

I wish we were back in a time when the manager ruled with an iron fist and crybabies were first on the chopping block. But the money involved has made it such that the manager has become a glorified babysitter.

Same with Mike Trout suddenly ending his hitless streak as soon as Joe Maddon was fired.

The greatest and most accurate umpire of all time, Angel Hernandez is going pulling the race card again for his shit performance.

Angel Hernandez Says MLB Manipulates Reviews to Disadvantage Umpires of Color

MLB umpire Angel Hernandez said the league "was manipulating the performance" of umpires of color "to make their performances look worse" in a filing with the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, per Daniel Kaplan of The Athletic.

Hernandez sued Major League Baseball for discrimination in 2017, arguing the league had a history of discriminating against people of color within its umpiring ranks. Federal Judge J. Paul Oetken dismissed the case in 2021, but Hernandez is now appealing to a higher court.

"[A] review of Mr. Hernandez's Year-End Evaluations and his UERs [umpire evaluation reports] for the years 2011-2016 reveals that MLB manipulated Mr. Hernandez's year-end evaluations in order to make his job performance appear worse than it actually was," the filing said. "Mr. Hernandez's Year-End Evaluations for the 2011-2016 seasons do not even come close to accurately summarizing Mr. Hernandez's actual performance in those seasons."

Major League Baseball has previously denied his claims of discrimination.

"Hernandez has not demonstrated the leadership ability and situation management skills in critical, high-pressure roles on a consistent basis," former MLB chief baseball officer Joe Torre said in a deposition, speaking on why Hernandez wasn't given a World Series assignment.

In 2021, Judge Oetken said in his ruling that Major League Baseball employs "an unfortunately low proportion of minority umpires," but agreed with the league that the small number of non-white umpires given premier assignments like the World Series was not "statistically meaningful," in part because the league didn't have many umpires of color to promote in the first place given those league's diversity issues.

Hernandez's appeal is arguing against that particular interpretation from Judge Oetken, comparing it to a loophole small businesses use when failing to promote employees of color.

I like Michael Harris.

Art Moreno. A garbage minor league system that hasn't developed a pitcher since.. since.. fuck since Weaver? Have they had a decent starter come through their system since Jared Weaver?
Surely one of the 19 pitchers they got in the 2021 draft will turn into something right?

Tyler Skaggs is 6 feet under…

I had forgotten about Skaggs. But yet another nail in the Art Moreno coffin. You have a fucking drug dealer in your club house, a man selling "go go juice" in your club house, and even selling it to opposing teams. Pisses money away on free agent position players but does fuck all for the pitching staff.

The Twins announced today that 23 year old shortstop Royce Lewis has a torn ACL and will require surgery. Meanwhile, the Tigers announced that 25 year old starter Casey Mize will require Tommy John surgery; both players will likely be out until at least this time next season.

I post this because Lewis was the 1st overall pick in 2017 and Mize was the 1st overall pick in 2018. The Orioles and prized catching prospect Adley Rutschman are probably sweating bullets right now. Speaking of prized catching prospects, Gabriel Moreno (ranked as the #4 prospect in the game according to MLB.com) of the Blue Jays should be making his MLB debut this weekend in Detroit.

Dontcha know!? Robbie Cano has now re-signed with the Padres to a minor league deal and will reportedly accept assignment to AAA after rejecting the same assignment last week. San Diego dumpster diving in their own trash, damn.
Damn. I'd expect a team like the Orioles to do this, not a contending team in the Padres. What value do they think he brings nowadays? Are they hoping he goes back on the roids and has a sudden late-career surge while Manfred just looks the other way?

How are the Angels this bad with two generational talents in Trout and Ohtani?
Because two (three whenever Rendon is actually healthy- he was an MVP contender in 2020) great players cant do much when the rest of the team sucks.
They started off fantastic, their lineup was healthy and performing while their starters and bullpen were all lights out. After the injuries started (Ward, Trout, Rendon, Fletcher) the offense tanked, quickly followed by their starters and bullpen shitting the bed for a chunk of May. Seems like their pitching has figured it out though and the lineup is slowly coming back together. They're still second in the AL west, closely fighting for a wildcard spot and theres plenty of baseball left to play.

Surely one of the 19 pitchers they got in the 2021 draft will turn into something right?
Chase Sisleth was one of them and has debuted in the majors already this year. He seems to have great potential but is still raw, needs to work on his control and limiting waste pitches.
Bachman could be called up today and be an effective reliever, but theyre keeping him in the minors to build him up as a starter and develop his pitches a bit more.
